Fresh Lemon Bath Bombs

Here at Ruffles and Rain Boots, we are all about that relaxation in the tub. Even if it’s just for long enough to let my muscles loosen in my shoulders and my toes uncurl. Spending 15 minutes in the tub is so precious. And making bath bombs so I have an excuse to rest and feel the fizz? Precious beyond reason right now. Plus, zesty flavors swirling around me, making me feel like a sauté? Ah-mazing. LOL!

In all seriousness, though, I am keeping these ridiculously zesty lemon bath bombs to myself. They’re perfect for gifts, sure, but the truth is that I am loving the way they make the bathroom smell–and me too. If you’re ready to get all zesty, let’s get started.

Tips to Make Lemon Zest Bath Bombs

  • These lemon bath bombs are so simple but they smell so bright and fresh. All you do is follow the directions below and you won’t be disappointed.
  • I always recommend drying your bath bombs for at least 24 hours so you get the most fizzy for your effort. Plus, when they dry for that long, if the mixture accidentally got a bit wetter than absolutely necessary, you’ll still get your fizz.
  • To make sure your DIY Lush bath bombs remain at their top-fizziness peak, always store them in an air-tight container. Even, if you’re making them as a gift for a friend or neighbor, keep them in that airtight container.
  • As with any DIY project, it’s on you to put as much fragrance or colorant into your lemon zest bath bombs as you’d like–they’re your bath bombs and it’s your bath. But please, for the love of all the bath bombs, never use food coloring–that’s a guaranteed way to color your skin with a nice shade of whatever AND the bathtub (you don’t want to match you bathtub, come on). So, stick with soap colorant or mica powders to be safe.
  • This lemon bath bomb is made-up of essential oil, citric acid, and a bit of water (with some other stuff but that’s the basic recipe). That’s seriously all there is to it. So, if you’re having trouble getting your bath bombs to hold their shape, they’re probably not wet enough. Just add a little water and try again. 2. Whisk together epsom salt, baking soda, cornstarch and citric acid.
  3. Place the coconut oil, water, soap coloring and essential oil into jar, secure the lid and shake until the mixture is combined.
  4. To avoid as much fizzing as possible, slowly add the liquid ingredients into the dry mixture, a few drops at  time, while stirring.
  5. Mix well until the color is consistent throughout and there are no lumps.
  6. Add 1 tablespoon of lemon zest into the mixture and stir well.
  7. Place a small portion of lemon zest into one side of each bath bomb mold.
  8. Immediately fill each of the molds with the bath bomb mixture, firmly filling each side.
  9. Press and twist both halves of the mold together and allow it to set. Tap both sides of the mold to allow the bath bomb to release.

Feeling Chic in My LAMO Sheepskin Boots

Sharing is caring!

I am a busy mom. And because I work from home I have let my style slip a bit in the last few years. There is no shame to admit it. I’m constantly juggling work and kids and I don’t have as much time to worry about fashion, especially now that I’m not in the workplace. Some days only my family sees me and I use that as an excuse.

It needs to stop!

It always perks up my mood when I feel good about what I am wearing. Nothing makes me feel more like being productive and on the go when I’m sporting awesome boots like these 9″ rugged sole sheepskin boots from LAMO. Aren’t they awesome?

These boots are everything I love about footwear. They are comfortable, stylish yet classic and will go with virtually anything in my wardrobe. And because I live in the rather cold state of Minnesota, I’ll have plenty of opportunities to rock these over the the winter.

I love pairing them with jeans or leggings! Last week I wore them with my Nursing Shawl ($79) from Seraphine and Meridian Cable Knit Scarf ($34) from Lands’ End. It created the perfect ensemble for the slightly warmer weather and I could even forgo my jacket. It was just right for drop off and pick up at school and my long trip to Target. And even after a couple of hours of shopping my feet weren’t sore or overheated.

The quality of these boots is top notch with plenty of new styles to choose from. I’m in love with the look of all of these boots and so many more! Would you believe that those faux fur lined Polar black boots in the bottom right corner are only $48? I think I’m drooling.

Who wouldn’t love to unwrap a pair of these boots this holiday season?

The 9″ Rugged Sole Sheepskin Boots are available in black and chestnut and retail for $99. Purchase all these styles and more directly from LAMO or look for them at your favorite footwear retailers!
