Perfect Aire Dehumidifier Reviews

Perfect Aire 50-pint Dehumidifier

Perfect Aire 50-pint Dehumidifier

The Perfect Aire 2PFD50 is rated to remove up to 50 pints of excess moisture per day. It is recommended for medium to large spaces up to 4,500 square feet. This can be a basement, garage, or a large living room.

This unit comes with a 12.7 pint bucket, which is below the average water tank capacity of around 14 pints for a 50-pint dehumidifier. You may need to empty the bucket up to four times in 24 hours.

It has a clear white plastic exterior and a control panel that’s nearly identical to this hOmeLabs unit, but we’ll get to that later.

Perfect Aire 1PFD35 35-pint Dehumidifier

Perfect-Aire 35-pint Dehumidifier

For medium sized spaces up to 592 square feet, you may want to consider the Perfect Aire 1PFD35 35-pint dehumidifier. Although similar in physical dimensions with the 50-pint model, this 35-pint has a silver color exterior. It has much of the same features and functionality, along with the 12.7-pint bucket.

Perfect Aire 22-pint Dehumidifier

For even smaller spaces, Perfect Aire’s smallest dehumidifier is the 1PFD22 22-pint model. This Energy Star rated model is perfect for removing excess moisture in a tiny space, such as the bathroom or laundry room, up to 430 square feet. It has a small 6.3-pint tank and a similar but smaller exterior as the 35-pint model.

Key Features

Digital Controls

Perfect Aire Dehumidifier Digital Panel

Like other brands, Perfect Aire dehumidifiers feature a top control panel with a digital display, soft touch buttons, and indicator lights. The On/Off Power button is on the bottom right corner.

Digital Humidistat

The unit has a built-in adjustable humidistat which automatically maintains your set humidity level. Use the arrow buttons to select your desired humidity. The LED display shows the set humidity level from 35% to 85% and the room humidity from 30% to 90%, both in 5% increments. When the humidity is lower than your setting, the unit will stop dehumidifying. It will start running again when it senses humidity higher than your setting.

On the leftmost part of the control panel, you’ll find the COMFORT button. If you operate in Comfort mode, the humidity cannot be adjusted manually. Instead, it will set the recommended humidity levels based on the ambient temperature. Although, like most household dehumidifiers, Perfect Aire doesn’t have a temperature display.

The dehumidifier has a washable and reusable filter to catch dust and other airborne particles before the air enters the unit. After 250 hours of use, the Check Filter light will illuminate to remind you to clean the filter. Remove the filter from the back of the unit and clean it with warm, soapy water. Let the filter dry completely before reinstalling. Press the Filter button to reset the filter indicator and the light will turn off.

The Continuous button enables continuous dehumidification (theoretically, down to 0% RH). The indicator light will illuminate when using the continuous operation.

The Turbo button controls the fan speeds. Press to select Turbo mode for maximum moisture removal. The indicator will light up when Turbo speed is selected. For quiet operation, press the button once again to set the fan to normal speed.

You can also set a timer to start or stop operation after the specified time. To program the unit to automatically turn on, press the Timer button when the unit is off. The ON indicator light above the TIMER will illuminate. Set the timer in 30 minute increments up to 10 hours, and one hour increments up to 24 hours. To program the unit to automatically turn off, press the button when the unit is on. The OFF indicator light will illuminate. While setting, you can see the number of hours on the digital display.

Most dehumidifiers have an internal water bucket to hold the moisture collected. Perfect Aire dehumidifier features an easy access bucket with a transparent water level window to easily monitor. It also has the standard automatic shutoff feature, and a bucket full indicator light to alert you when the bucket is full. For the 50-pint model, you may have to empty the water bucket up to four times a day. Every time you do this, wash and rinse the bucket before reinstalling in order to avoid mold growth.

Drain Hose

If you don’t have the time for manual emptying, Perfect Aire offers an optional continuous drainage functionality like other dehumidifiers. To enable automatic drainage through gravity, attach a standard garden hose to the drain outlet on the back of the unit (pictured below). Make sure to place the dehumidifier higher than the drain, there are no kinks or knots, and the other end of the hose is level with a nearby drain. Don’t forget to detach the hose if not in use and disinfect it every few weeks.

Perfect Aire Dehumidifier Built-in Pump

Built-in Pump

Most high capacity units from different brands also come with a built-in condensate pump, like the Perfect Aire 2PFDP50 50-pint and 1PDP60 60-pint models. The pump allows vertical drainage up to 15 feet above the unit. This is a very convenient feature for large spaces like basements without a floor drain. You can have the hose run up into a sink or window to divert the water. If your dehumidifier doesn’t come with this functionality, you can purchase a separate external condensate pump. It works in the same way and gives you even more options for the hose length and height limit.

How Does Perfect Aire Compare?

Build Quality and Warranty

In terms of the quality of construction, Perfect Aire dehumidifiers are just around average compared to highly-rated dehumidifiers like the Frigidaire, Honeywell, or Vremi. It has a similar design as another top dehumidifier, the hOmeLabs. They have almost the exact same features on the control panel, as well as the side exhaust and a handle on each side. Considering the durability, both are made from lightweight plastic that looks cheap in comparison with the Frigidaire and LG models.

Additionally, Perfect Aire comes with an industry standard one-year warranty. Most dehumidifiers, including Frigidaire, have a one-year warranty. Only hOmeLabs has two years, while Honeywell comes with up to five years of warranty from the manufacturer.

Dehumidification Performance

Perfect Aire offers the 22-pint, 35-pint, and 50-pint dehumidifiers, just like most other brands. Although not currently available online, they also have a 60-pint dehumidifier with built-in pump. All of these units are Energy Star certified, which only means they satisfy the EPA’s energy efficiency requirements for dehumidifiers. Similar to most dehumidifiers, they can operate in low temperatures down to 41℉ with an Automatic Defrost control to prevent frost buildup inside the machine. Unlike a few other brands, Perfect Aire has an auto defrost indicator light that will illuminate when the unit is currently defrosting.

Bucket Capacity

The 12.7-pint bucket on the 35-pint and 50-pint units is on the smaller side. The average for 50-pint dehumidifiers on the market today is around 14 pints. The highest that I know of is with the Frigidaire model, at 16.9 pints or 2 gallons.

Noise Output

Noise can be subjective, but compressor dehumidifiers are naturally loud when operating. Although, some models have a better way of masking this annoying compressor noise with the more pleasant fan noise. On units with a top exhaust, fan noise is distributed more evenly, making an overall pleasing noise than in side-exhaust units. Perfect Aire, like the hOmeLabs and Vremi, has a side exhaust.

Consumer Feedback

Customer reviews for the current dehumidifiers from Perfect Aire are very little to none in various online retail stores I found. Based on specifications alone, they aren’t nearly on par with the highest rated dehumidifiers I mentioned above, although one model looks almost identical with the hOmeLabs unit.

I wouldn’t recommend this dehumidifier, but since there aren’t a lot of reviews to rely on, the judgment mainly rests on you. Use what you’ve learned from this article or if necessary, go to your local store and ask an expert to help you decide.

Clear tubing with sizing of 0.5 inches (13 mm) for inner diameter is recommended. (Tubing not included.) • Hose should be secure on both ends, being especially mindful that it is pushed all the way onto connector piece inside unit. • Hose should exit through the back of unit and always be positioned at a DOWNWARD slope to the desired drain location. • Check that filter, vents and bucket are thoroughly clean. • Be sure nothing is obstructing hose connection and there are no kinks or tears in any of the hosing. • Ensure unit is level and not tilted forward and that bucket is pushed in all the way. Though the unit may appear level, if the surface it sits on is even slightly uneven and the front of the unit is tilted downward, continuous draining may not work. If necessary, slightly prop up the front of the unit, taking care that the unit does not fall backward. • If water is going into bucket instead of hose, the unit is working properly. Why Do You Need a Dehumidifier?

If you’ve got too much humidity in your home, a dehumidifier is a perfect way to bring moisture levels to a comfortable level. You might find you have mold growing on walls or ceilings which is not only unsightly but can cause health problems. If the humidity level in your home is above 50% you are at risk of developing these problems.

A Perfect Aire dehumidifier will bring your humidity level down to a comfortable level – protecting your furniture and stop you from experiencing health problems like asthma.

What You Need to Consider When Buying the Best Perfect Aire Dehumidifier

The first thing you need to consider when buying a dehumidifier is the size of the room you need to use it in. You can measure your room and calculate what capacity dehumidifier you need to use. Perfect Aire dehumidifiers can cover either 3,000 square foot or 4,500 square foot. If you have a room that is around 4,400 for example, it would be better to get the larger model.

Guarantees and customer service

Perfect Aire is a company which focuses on customer service. Their models come with a one year guarantee which is something you should look for when investing in a new dehumidifier. This means if you have any problems with the product in the first 12 months, you can call the company for help and support.

Features and Modes

Perfect Aire dehumidifiers come with three operating modes. They can collect the water in an internal reservoir which needs emptying regularly, a hose can take the water directly to a drain or a pump can push the water from the unit through a longer hose. The dehumidifier you need depends on whether you have an accessible drain or sink to run the hose to.

You need to work out which model suits your home best before buying your Perfect Aire dehumidifier.

Room Temp

Another thing to think about is the temperature of the room you will be using the dehumidifier in. Perfect Aire dehumidifiers work down to a temperature of 41 degrees so they will be suitable for use in cold areas like basements or garages.

These models also come with anti defrost functions which means that even if the coils inside your dehumidifier get too cold and start to ice up, the Perfect Aire dehumidifier will automatically get rid of the icy build up inside.

How To Get The Most From Your Perfect Aire Dehumidifier

To make sure your Perfect Aire dehumidifier works as well as it can, make sure you fix it somewhere where it has enough room around it so the airflow is unrestricted. This means leaving about a six to eight-inch gap all the way around the unit.

These models have a vent on the front and side which needs to be kept away from walls, furniture or anything that may block it.

Check Your House

Before setting up your Perfect Aire dehumidifier, make sure all your doors and windows are sealed to avoid pulling moisture in from outside.

These particular models have two vents which may become blocked if there is too much dust or debris in the room. Vacuum the room and it will stop your dehumidifier from getting clogged as well as helping with any allergies or breathing difficulties.

So to sum up, the Perfect Aire model you choose for your home really depends on capacity. This is why measuring the space you have and making sure you know how much power you need is very important.

There isn’t too much difference between the two models apart from price and capacity so those should be the two most important things you take away from these Perfect Aire dehumidifier reviews.

Both units work in lower temperatures than standard models and would be suitable for your home, garage or basement. Feel free to comment and share your thoughts!
