1.0 out of 5 starsTerrible mower
Reviewed in the United States on October 7, 2018
This mower is a huge disappointment after two seasons. The original blade was totally ineffective to pull grass up and blow it into the rear bag. I bought a $30 aftermarket "high lift" blade in hopes that would fix the problem. Only a marginal improvement. The mower desck just does not create enough vacuum to pull clippings up. You can run over a few leaves with this thing and they will still be sitting on the grass. It can't pull grass up around the edges of the lawn either. Don't even think about cutting grass that is damp. Clearly, this mower was designed by people who never cut grass. Because it is a "three in one" - mulch, side discharge, rear discharge - it does none of those functions well, but the rear bagging is crap. The rear door has all of these features in the plastic door that trap clippings and because the pull up and blow of clippings is so weak, the grass collects at the front of the bag. When you remove the bag, if it is more than half full the grass spills out the front and makes a mess. The bag is also pretty small, so you have to stop a lot and empty it. The wheels are not individually adjustable so you can't tilt the mower for high edges around the lawn. The Briggs motor starts up fine for me but it seems to lack the power to spin that blade fast enough to get good suction to pull the grass up and blow it out the back. I am sorry I ever got rid of my Craftsman 21", even though it was 27 years old. Should have brought it with me when I moved.... It could have run circles around this Troybuilt. Part of the problem is now we have lawn mowers that have to be designed to meet all manner of stupid government regulations and most of them are total crap. If you are willing to spend $750-$1100 for a Honda, you might get something that works. No more Troybuilts for me.........

The Troy-Bilt TB110 is part of the Lawn mowers and tractors test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, Gas Mowers models like the TB110 are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.
Side discharging How far and evenly clippings were dispersed from the discharge chute.
Mulching Reflects how fine the clippings are and how completely the mower distributed its clippings over the lawn's surface.
Bagging Denotes how much clippings the bag held before it filled or the chute clogged.

Troy Bilt Tb110 Oil
Troy Bilt Tb110 Oil
What kind of oil does a Troy Bilt tb110 need?
Answer: Standard SAE5W30 engine oil is safe for most TroyBilt mowers and will work in a wide range of temperatures.
How much oil does a Troy Bilt lawnmower consume?
Pour 11/2 liters of new oil into the engine and check the oil level with the ■■■■■■■■.
Do you also know which oil to use in my Briggs and Stratton engine?
Use Briggs & Stratton SAE 30W oil above 4 ° C (40 ° F) on all of our engines. Check the oil level regularly. Air-cooled engines use about one gram of oil per cylinder per hour. Fill up to the mark on the ■■■■■■■■.
Can I use 10w30 instead of SAE 30 in the lawn mower?
Yes, you can use it. But there are other factors to consider. This includes the temperature and the engine. Older engines can use SAE30 while 10W30 is for modern engines.
Can i use car oil on lawn mowers?
SAE 30 engine oil is generally recommended for use in a lawn mower engine, but it is safer to use the type of oil recommended by the lawn mower manufacturer. Often, 10W30 or 10W40, the same types of motor oils used in vehicles, can also be used in a lawn mower.
Can I use 5w30 instead of SAE 30?
If I had 5w30 it would sink much faster and thus protect the engine better.
You may be wondering why not use 0w30 or 5w30 all year round?
Yes, they will eventually reach 30 in weight after being heated, so it’s good to use fine oils in warmer climates. Is
SAE 30 the same as 10w30?
No. SAE 10W30 is an oil with SAE 10W viscosity (thickness) at low temperature and SAE 30 viscosity at high temperature. SAE 10W30 is an oil with SAE 10W viscosity (thickness) at low temperature and SAE 30 viscosity at high temperature. W means winter.
What if you put too much oil in the lawn mower?
Effects of Excess Oil
How Much Oil Does a Briggs and Stratton Engine Consume?
If using the 12.5 horsepower engine in temperatures above 40 degrees Fahrenheit, Briggs & Stratton requires an SFSJ Quad approved 48 gallon (1.5 quart) SAE 30 cleaning oil or higher.
How much oil does a lawn mower consume?
Can I use 20w50 oil in the lawn mower?
The short answer is yes, you can use 20w50 oil in a lawn mower, but the results may vary. This type of oil is not specifically designed for use in a lawn mower. 20W50 is actually a fairly specialized gasoline engine oil formulated for use in engines typically manufactured before 1980.
Do my Briggs and Strattons have an oil filter?
Yes, sir. Briggs and Stratton oil filters are designed for Intek and Vanguard OHV engines on most lawn mowers. 2. In most cases, if it is a Briggs & Stratton engine, yes.
Can I mix SAE 30 with 10w30?
You can mix straight weights like SAE 10 and SAE 30 or multigrade like 10W30 and 10W40. In the summer, if you want, do your 30s in a row.
What happens if you put 2-stroke oil in a lawn mower?
Petrol and oil do not mix
Is there a difference between car oil and lawnmower oil?
Can I use 10w30 car oil in the lawn mower?
Yes, you can use 10w30 in a lawn mower engine, but the oil type recommendations vary by brand and, of course, you should use the type of oil listed in your owner’s manual.
What is the best lawn mower oil?
Amsoil Synthetic Small Car Oil offers much better protection than conventional motor oils. Depending on the temperatures you are working at, you may have different requirements for the engine oil. For most lawn mowers and weather conditions, SAE 30 / SAE 10W30 oil is the best option.
What does SAE 30 correspond to?
Obviously SAE and ISO use two different scales to measure viscosity. SAE 10W corresponds to ISO 32, SAE 20 corresponds to ISO 46 and 68 and SAE 30 corresponds to ISO 100.
Is SAE 30 oil synthetic?
Royal Purple SAE 30 Synthetic Motor Oil, qt. Formulated with premium base oils combined with proprietary additive technologies, Royal Purple is a premium motor oil that optimizes engine performance and offers superior protection.
What is the difference between SAE 30 and SAE 40 oil?
Can I use 10w40 instead of 10w30 in the lawn mower?
The only difference between 10w30 and 10w40 oil is the thickness at the engine temperatures (heat). In the past, it was common practice to switch to a higher viscosity oil as the engine ages, such as using 20w50 oil instead of the manufacturer’s recommended 10w40 oil.
Is synthetic oil good for small engines?

Maintenance
General Recommendations
•
Always observe safety rules when performing any
maintenance.
•
The warranty on this lawn mower does not cover items that
have been subjected to operator abuse or negligence. To
receive full value from warranty, operator must maintain
the lawn mower as instructed here.
•
Changing of engine-governed speed will void engine
warranty.
•
All adjustments should be checked at least once each
season.
•
Periodically check all fasteners and make sure these are
tight.
WARNING:
Always stop engine, disconnect spark
plug, and ground against engine before performing
any type of maintenance on your machine.
Lubrication
1.
Lubricate pivot points on the blade control at least once a
season with light oil. The blade control must operate freely
in both directions. See Fig. 6-1.
Figure 6-1
2.
Follow the accompanying engine manual for lubrication
schedule and instruction for engine lubrication.
Deck Care
Clean underside of the mower deck after each use to prevent
build-up of grass clippings or other debris. Follow steps below
for this job.
1.
Disconnect spark plug wire. Drain gasoline from lawn
mower or place a piece of plastic under the gas cap.
2.
Tip mower so that it rests on the housing. Keep the side
with the air cleaner facing up. Hold mower firmly.
WARNING:
Never tip the mower more than 90º in
any direction and do not leave the mower tipped for
any length of time. Oil can drain into the upper part
of the engine causing a starting problem.
3.
Scrape and clean the underside of the deck with a suitable
tool.
4.
Put the mower back on its wheels on the ground. If you had
put plastic under the gas cap earlier, make sure to remove it
now.
Engine Care
A list of key engine maintenance jobs required for good
performance by the mower is given below. Follow the
accompanying engine manual for a detailed list and instructions.
•
Maintain oil level as instructed in engine manual.
•
Service air cleaner every 25 hours under normal conditions.
Clean every few hours under extremely dusty conditions.
Poor engine performance and flooding usually indicates
that the air cleaner should be serviced. To service the air
cleaner, refer to the engine manual.
•
Clean spark plug and reset the gap once a season. Spark
plug replacement is recommended at the start of each
mowing season. Check engine manual for correct plug
type and gap specifications.
•
Clean engine regularly with a cloth or brush. Keep the
top of the engine clean to permit proper air circulation.
Remove all grass, dirt, and combustible debris from muffler
area.
