Yeah but a lot of those units you listed can only be pulled on, you guessed it, cov summon, except SSB.

Also you get Galaxy BMs if you do normal cov anyways. So compared to banner, you're only really directly upgrading from a miniscule chance of something specific to miniscule chance + the % to summon on cov summon.

I guess that's another thing. Banners are only valuable if there's a banner to summon the unit you want in the first place. It's just not reliable and you probably have a good chance of rolling that unit long before you get the banner, which means you get to use that unit much longer

If I was just starting, sure, I would go Convenant if the current banner isn't someone I want, but I can't see any reason for a day 1 player with basically all non-ML 5* units already to waste bookmarks in it. And even if I was just startirng, I would try to hold a number of bookmarks for a good future banner.

I remember a guy on Reddit burning all his 30k skystones in Convenant because he wanted Charles. He got 0 ML 5*, and only 4 5*, and 2 of them were Melissa if I'm not mistaken. 2 weeks later Charles banner was announced. Convenant is just a giant gamble.

Playing: Sakuna: of Rice and Ruin; Genshin Impact; Rune Factory 4 Special; Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru - Requiem of the Golden Witch; Epic Seven; Arknights.

Yeah there's a pretty good chance you get nothing. But the point was that you get more out of it on average, and that's just pure statistics. People will always overvalue something that's outright guaranteed. I recommend reading up on Prospect Theory

But at the end of the day, if you're also possibly rolling ML 4-5*s and other 5*s in general, you won't always need Charles. You never know what'll happen. If you absolutely feel that you need to absolutely roll this one unit that'll complete your team, I guess it's ok to do banner, but my point was that you probably would've gotten way better result by spending 120 rolls on normal cov on average.

And I've backed that up with numbers and relative advantages multiple times throughout the topic. I also say Protip? because it's not absolutely applicable to every single situation. It's not even a tip for new or old players either. But on like 8 out of 10 cases, let's say to be generous, you should roll on cov

Always roll on focus banners if the unit is interesting. It's your best chance of getting the unit afterall. The value of covenant isn't that you can get a ML 5* from it but rather that you can get ML 4*s from it. Many ML 4*s serve as the cornerstone for countering many 5* units, including ML 5*s. If you plan to play in high level pvp, you'll want a good variety of ML 4*s to play with. For the most part, ML 5*s really shine on defense as they are generally always good while RGB units always suffer from some sort of glaring vulnerability.

>.> I just rolled A. Ravi. This is ridiculous

I'm a new player that beat episode 1 but haven't spent any covenant. This is my second reroll after beating 10-10. Before, I didn't know which units to get so I just half ass rolled on Banner Pavel (ran out of bookmarks) and also did covenant summons which I spent around 100 bookmarks between the two of them. I mostly got 3 stars and a few 4 stars none of which were ML. I would say to the topic marker, he's wrong. Most people don't need a ton of units, only those few broken units that can carry you through the game. The odds of even getting a regular 5 star in covenant summon is bad. I don't have the luck like you guys so I'm going to stick to banners. I'm even tempted to roll on Basar since he's great for pvp, but I'm currently waiting for the limited run.

Got down to 15 pulls on Cremia before I ran out of currency. Did some pulls throughout the week, then went ham the last day. Didn't do the math beforehand, expected 4,500 skystone and 150 bookmarks to cover it. Banner ended before I was able to do anything about it besides throw a big chunk of money at the game to buy skystones. All the currency I built up over the last month-ish (started at the end of december), all wasted. Best I pulled was some throwaway 5* artifact; not even the banner one.

My f2p alt account (Ken from selective) which hasn't spent a cent has pulled two 5* from the free banner in a row (Alencia, Rod of Amaryllis). I did 5 pulls on Basar and got him on the last. Did a ML summon afterward and got Challenger Dominel. The damn account is loaded and only 2 weeks old.

I swear to god accounts are seeded, and there's probably even a flag that makes your luck worse if you've spent money as it shows you're willing to spend to do things.

Regardless of conspiracies, it's made me not want to continue playing, and to try and request some sort of refund or credit for my main account. That's what, $300 worth of currency thrown away? I desperately needed a fire hero too, as all I have is Vildred and Karin.

My friend spend all his currency rolling on banners before I told him the rates for heroes are terrible and to roll on normal summons instead. He ragequit.

From watching people do pulls on youtube, I can say the banner rates are absolutely atrocious. It's a damn trap, and the devs rely on it.

...

Yeah I think it's rather easy to get 1-2 copies of your absolute favorites and fill the rest with meta units. ML 5*s usually replace most RBG 5*s, maybe except Basar. Even for Basar, a lot of people use DJ Basar as a counter to Basar, usually built with ok speed and high eff res, low tankiness with Water's Origin.

Or even with Alencia, it doesn't feel likely for me to have built Alencia if I had A. Ravi much earlier on.

One could say Charles has no clear ML replacement and so does SSB. But Charles is rollable in cov summon and SSB, you could make that your one pity breaker.

I think it's good to hoard some skystones though. There's the epic pass right now that I embarrassingly can't afford until a few weeks later, no rush since it lasts a whole month. I also don't think there will be an SSB level must get for a while but tbh SSB has had a ton of counters made just for her. I think you can easily do without her

This sounds almost exactly like me when I started this game over a year ago, although I only spent $100 before I said no more and went completely f2p. I came from FEH where the lowest summon rate was 3% (and they regularly had promo banners with rate up to 8 & 10%), so I was quite spoiled. Other gachas have crap rates on their 5*s that are in line with Epic 7, but yes I agree they are ridiculously low.

But if you consider it from a developer POV, when this game launched, they had maybe a little over 100 total units (3-5*). If the rates were too good, people would have all of the units within a few months and get bored waiting for more content. Also, after I went F2P, I slowly realized that gacha in this game works a little differently than others. Of course there are meta unit like any other game, but the real struggle is gearing and maxing the unit so that it is viable in the harder PVE and PVP content. That is where you can spend to speed up progression (mola packs, gear packs, skystones for more energy, etc.) and see a real return on your investment. Of course, if you are patient and can withstand the grind, all of that will come to you eventually anyway. You know you're an Epic 7 veteran when you no longer care so much about what unit is coming next because you still have ten 5* units still waiting to be geared and mola maxed. That's when you'll start stacking skystones and BMs.

If you think Epic Seven has bad rates you should see Langrisser Mobile bro it is hard to watch it! (and fun because I know the feeling of chasing units without success)
They removed the offbanner units and added a pity at least on Epic, but yes the rates are still mediocre.

It's time to try a new weapon!
