Which Costco floor jack should I get?
Is there much difference in quality? The Torin is in stock near me, the Arcan I'd have to wait or order online

I have the Arcan and its solid. Lighter is better, much easier to carry around if need be. I use it on an SUV and the maximum height of 18" or so is fine (compared to Torin which is 24").Arcan:
Weight: kg ( lb.)
Torin:
Weight: kg (79 lb.)

Why are you picking it up when it has wheels to be rolled around?Squirrel99 wrote: ↑ That weight difference makes me lean towards Arcan

Arcan won't probably move freely as Torin on wheel design, but then again you don't want jack slipping and sliding.

They all seem to be good quality. Dont stress on name brand too much. The lower profile jack will work better for sports cars or car with lower spoiler kits that will come into contact with lifting arm potentially cracking the plastic.
I have had my Torin branded Costco jack for almost 20 years. Still working great.

Alum & steel v. all-steel is where the difference comes from. However what are you lifting with it? If it's just a regular car you can even use a ton all-alum jack and be perfectly fine and have it be quite lightweight. If you're lifting an CUV/SUV (and no I don't mean a cute-ute or wannabeSUV) then you'll need something both with more capacity and lift height though.Squirrel99 wrote: ↑ That weight difference makes me lean towards Arcan

Even then I've used a ton all-alum low-profile jack to lift a Q5 before, though not very high--it's enough to lift a corner and change a wheel but that's about it and I wouldn't use it for that on a frequent basis.
As the poster above says, most of these China-made jacks are all made in the same places regardless of brand. All are the same or clones of each other being made in similar facilities in China. Brand shouldn't matter too much but if you want lightweight you'll want to go with something that's either alum or alum & steel mix. All-steel is perhaps more "heavy duty" but if you're just a "home user" that will use it occasionally I see no reason to buy all-steel.

Arcan XL 3 Ton Professional Steel Floor Jack
If you're one that enjoys working on your car, then it may be a good idea to get a good floor jack like the Arcan XL 3 Ton Professional Steel Floor Jack to properly lift your car. Its low profile can easily fit under smaller vehicles that sit closer to the ground like sports cars and roadsters, but it also has a high lift height for larger vehicles as well. The Arcan XL 3 Ton Professional Steel Floor Jack can save you a lot of time especially if you like to change your oil ever miles or rotate your tires. Doing your own oil changes and other car-related maintenance can save you a lot of money from having to bring your car to the mechanic or dealership where they charge you a premium. When jacking your car, just be sure to take the proper safety precautions and use chock blocks and jack stands to prevent your car from rolling over and/or collapsing. And never get underneath your car whose weight is being supported by a floor jack.
