What is the easiest healer to play in Shadowlands?

What is the easiest healer to play in Shadowlands?

Holy Paladin 100

What is the best healing class in WoW Shadowlands?

Healer Tier List for Shadowlands Season 1 of Mythic+

  • Holy Paladin (S-Tier)
  • Restoration Shaman (S-Tier)
  • Discipline Priest (A-Tier)
  • Restoration Druid (A-Tier)
  • Holy Priest (B-Tier)
  • Mistweaver Monk (B-Tier)

Is holy or discipline better for healing Shadowlands?

In World of Warcraft, the priests class is the only one that has two healing subclasses, and Discipline is probably the most balanced one. In Shadowlands, the character of this subclass became more mobile and damage dealing (thus standing between Holy and Shadow priest) with the possibility to cast Mindblast.

Is holy priest Good Shadowlands?

Are Holy Priests Good For Mythic+? While we are not very far behind other specializations in Shadowlands and can reliably complete keystones required for the maximum rewards, Holy Priest is not currently a meta healer for pushing / speed running keystones.

Is holy priest easy?

Holy Priest’s strength comes from its immense amounts of healing throughput. Holy Priest is also easy to pick up and start learning. Their weakness is that they are a jack-of-all-trades, master of none kind of spec, and they bring no damage reduction to the table, unlike the other priest healing spec: Discipline.

Which priest spec is best for healing?

Holy is the tried and true spec for beginner healing. Simple execution, good results!

How many Legendaries can I equip?

You can already make a second legendary, but you can only equip one at a time.

Can you craft more than one legendary Shadowlands?

On the Shadowlands Beta, you can now craft Legendaries at multiple item levels. Base item from crafters have 4 Ranks that will determine the item level of the Legendary you craft and you’ll need more Legendary Currency, Soul Ash, to craft higher level versions.

Can you Transmog Thunderfury now?

Thunderfury can be transmoged by mages, and dh’s aswell. As for obtaining it, anyone who can transmog it can also obtain it (so mages, dh, hunters and warlocks should be added to this list).

Are legendary Transmogs account wide?

Legendary items are account wide, yes. If you can equip it on the original char you farmed it on, it is account wide.

Are Transmogs cross faction?

Unless they are bop you won’t beable to ever get those mogs from that toon. You only ever unlock the mog for items that the character that picked them up can use normally. So if you have plate or some cool 2h weapon in the rogues bags your sol and should just vendor them.

Are artifact Transmogs account wide?

They’re account bound in the sense that once you unlock it, the appearance will be available on alts of the same class.

Can you still get hidden artifact appearances?

Yes, you will be able to unlock every artifact skin EXCEPT for the mage tower challenge and mythic +15 appearances.

Is mage tower still available in BFA?

When patch 8.0 went live, the Mage Tower Class Challenges on the Broken Shore were removed from the game. With the exception of the appearances and tints associated with that challenge, all other appearances are still available to earn.

Can you still do hidden artifact appearances in BFA?

The only condition is the have the base color unlocked. You don’t have to use it in any way shapre or form. If you have it unlocked it the counter will work when you do dungeons, kills or world quests.

Can you level as a healer in Shadowlands?

You can, but don’t. There’s a reason every healing class has a DPS spec. It’ll be so much faster to level in a DPS spec. He asked abou lvling 50-60 and all players have to complete storyline so they can unlock covenants, therefore lvling via dungeons is not a option here.

Which priest spec is best for healing Shadowlands?

Shadowlands: All Healing Specs, Ranked

  • 6 Priest – Holy Specialization. The Holy Priest is the classic, most user-friendly healing class available.
  • 5 Monk – Mistweaver Specialization.
  • 4 Paladin – Holy Specialization.
  • 3 Druid – Restoration Specialization.
  • 2 Priest – Discipline Specialization.
  • 1 Shaman – Restoration Specialization.

Foreword

This page is intended for players who are new to the game or class, have no intentions of raiding Mythic difficulty, or simply want a more straightforward way to play their specialisation without being overwhelmed by the numerous subtleties and active abilities that need to be taken into consideration for optimal play.

2.

The Basics of Holy Priest

Holy Priests are better suited to AoE/raid healing, where they are able to provide relatively smooth output. That said, they are also capable single target healers. Most of the stronger Holy Priest spells require standing still to cast, which requires some forward thinking to play optimally, meaning periods of heavy movement can sometimes be punishing and should be planned ahead.

Holy Priest Spell Summary

3.

Talent Choice for Holy Priest

These are currently the easiest talent choices to perform well as a Holy Priest. These suggestions presume usage of the Flash Concentration IconFlash Concentration Legendary. Note that some of the suggestions sacrifice a bit of performance for ease of use, but overall the difference is not great. Consult the detailed talents page for the complete picture.

For dungeon healing you can also opt for a more passive approach to the level 50 tier by taking Light of the Naaru IconLight of the Naaru. You can also run the passive Benediction IconBenediction instead of Divine Star IconDivine Star. This does remove another spell from your rotation, but creates an even heavier emphasis on reliably casting Prayer of Mending IconPrayer of Mending on cooldoown, which you should be doing anyway.

Holy Priest Talents and Builds

4.

Stat Choice for Holy Priest

Currently, Intellect is your highest rated stat and due to this, you should prioritise item level when comparing gear to wear. With two items of the same item level you will want to prioritise stats as follows for raid content:

  1. Intellect
  2. Mastery = Critical Strike
  3. Versatility
  4. Haste

For dungeon content, the priority is:

  1. Intellect
  2. Critical Strike
  3. Haste
  4. Versatility
  5. Mastery

While we provide stat preference lists, swapping gear to higher item level items — and their higher Intellect/total stats — should, usually, provide a larger upgrade than using lower item level items with better stats. The exception to this rule are items with important tertiary stats, Leech and Avoidance, which should still be used ahead of other items without them, unless the difference in item level is around 6 or above.

Holy Priest Stats

5.

Best Legendaries for Holy Priest

Holy Priest primarily uses Flash Concentration IconFlash Concentration in both Dungeons and Raid. Flash Concentration has great synergy with the Trail of Light IconTrail of Light and Surge of Light IconSurge of Light talents, allowing for the majority of the Flash Heal IconFlash Heal casts required to keep the Legendary buff up to be instant-cast and cost no Mana. It also improves the throughput of the buffed Heal IconHeal casts by cleaving it onto previously-cast targets through Trail of Light.

If you are struggling to play around the 20-second Flash Concentration IconFlash Concentration buff, an alternative is to use Harmonious Apparatus IconHarmonious Apparatus. This Legendary falls behind Flash Concentration a bit, but can be much easier to use. It grants additional Holy Word cooldown reduction (4 seconds) when casting some of our normal rotational spells — Circle of Healing IconCircle of Healing reduces Holy Word: Sanctify IconHoly Word: Sanctify, Prayer of Mending IconPrayer of Mending reduces Holy Word: Serenity IconHoly Word: Serenity, and Holy Fire IconHoly Fire reduces Holy Word: Chastise IconHoly Word: Chastise. This Legendary increases the number of powerful Holy Words we can cast just by continuing our normal playstyle of casting Prayer of Mending and Circle of Healing as regularly as practical.

While you should always pick the best Legendary for the content you care about the most first, if you wish to participate equally in most types of content, or simply do not have the time to craft multiple Legendaries, we would recommend that you pick up Flash Concentration IconFlash Concentration first.

Holy Priest Legendaries

6.

Best Covenant for Holy Priest

Deciding which Covenant to choose can be a daunting task. To help you decide, we have a page specifically discussing the pros and cons for each Covenant as a Holy Priest, and also run through the various Conduits and Soulbinds as well.

Holy Priest Covenants

Holy Priest is in a unique situation where all of our Covenants rank similarly, particularly in a Raid environment. Regardless of the Covenant choice you make, there will be an appropriate Soulbind to suit the content you plan on doing.

7.

Basic Playstyle for Holy Priest

Regardless of the content you are tackling you should be aware of a few basic abilities:

  • Purify IconPurify is used in most content as many enemies will place magical or disease debuffs on your allies which can be removed by casting Purify on the affected ally. It is commonly referred to as dispel.
  • Power Word: Fortitude IconPower Word: Fortitude is a group wide buff that lasts for 60 minutes or until death and provides an additional 5% Stamina. Apply this before getting started on a dungeon or boss.
  • Desperate Prayer IconDesperate Prayer is an active ability with a 90-second cooldown. It heals you for a portion of your maximum health and also increases your maximum health for a period of time, it should be used when your own life is in danger.

7.1.

Raid Healing

Raid healing is primarily focused around AoE group healing, as outlined below. A lot of your decision-making will be based on incoming damage and the cooldowns you have available. It is better to use your cooldowns early and often than it is to save them for unknown future situations.

Below is the basic priority you should follow in raids when using the Flash Concentration IconFlash Concentration Legendary. You should not cast a spell that will mostly overheal, so keep this in mind while working through the priority list and skip an item if there is likely to be significant overhealing.

  1. Flash Heal IconFlash Heal if the Flash Concentration IconFlash Concentration buff is expiring soon.
  2. Holy Word: Sanctify IconHoly Word: Sanctify when a cluster of your raid is injured.
  3. Holy Word: Serenity IconHoly Word: Serenity on an injured ally.
  4. Circle of Healing IconCircle of Healing on cooldown when at least 4 allies are injured.
  5. Prayer of Mending IconPrayer of Mending on cooldown.
  6. Heal IconHeal for emergency triage on an ally near death.
  7. Heal IconHeal for general purpose raid healing.
  8. Heal IconHeal for general purpose single-target healing.
  9. Smite IconSmite an enemy when no healing is required.

Holy Word: Salvation IconHoly Word: Salvation should be used during a period of heavy raid-wide damage. Keep in mind, however, that your raid leader may instruct you to use it a very specific time.

Try to avoid using Renew IconRenew, Power Word: Shield IconPower Word: Shield, and Holy Nova IconHoly Nova when raid healing. They are a poor use of your time and Mana in nearly all situations.

Holy Priest Rotation

7.2.

Dungeon Healing

Dungeon healing is primarily focused around single target healing, as outlined below. A lot of your decision making will be based on incoming damage and the cooldowns you have available. It is better to use your cooldowns early and often, than it is to save them for unknown future situations.

Below is the basic priority you should follow in dungeons. You should not cast a spell that will mostly overheal, so keep this in mind as you work through the priority list and skip an item if there is likely to be significant overheal.

  1. Flash Heal IconFlash Heal if the Flash Concentration IconFlash Concentration buff is expiring soon.
  2. Holy Word: Serenity IconHoly Word: Serenity on an injured ally.
  3. Holy Word: Sanctify IconHoly Word: Sanctify when most of your group is injured.
  4. Circle of Healing IconCircle of Healing on cooldown when at least 3 allies are injured.
  5. Prayer of Mending IconPrayer of Mending when little healing is required.
  6. Heal IconHeal for emergency triage on an ally near death.
  7. Divine Star IconDivine Star when most of your group is injured.
  8. Heal IconHeal for general purpose single-target and group healing.
  9. Smite IconSmite an enemy when no healing is required.

For heavy damage, use Apotheosis IconApotheosis with Heal IconHeal and Holy Word: Serenity IconHoly Word: Serenity as it comes off cooldown. If this is still not enough, you also have access to Guardian Spirit IconGuardian Spirit.

When trying to heal multiple group members at once, rotate through them with Heal IconHeal or Flash Heal IconFlash Heal as the above priority list dictates. Moving between targets helps you get better value from the Trail of Light IconTrail of Light talent and lets you top multiple people at once despite casting "single-target" healing spells.

Dealing damage while in dungeons is often overlooked by healers. While any additional damage is beneficial to your group, it should not come at the cost of keeping your group alive, which is your main priority. Smite IconSmite is your main damage dealing ability and it costs very little Mana. In situations where Mana is not a concern you can also cast Holy Fire IconHoly Fire on cooldown, and keep Shadow Word: Pain IconShadow Word: Pain on enemy targets.

Holy Priest Rotation

7.3.

Rotation Mistakes for Holy Priest

While we have a larger section dedicated to walking through common mistakes and how to avoid them, a couple are worth mentioning now. These focus around our two most valuable resources, Mana and time.

Mana is very easy to waste without realising it. The most common way is spamming inefficient spells during downtime or periods of low healing. Stick to Smite IconSmite if you want to remain active during these periods and avoid spells like Renew IconRenew and Power Word: Shield IconPower Word: Shield as they are very Mana inefficient and should rarely be cast. Casting DPS spells outside of Smite, when Mana is going to be a concern, is also a way to accidentally consume additional Mana without realising it.

Time is a bit more difficult to quantify but one really easy thing you can do to get yourself more healing time in both dungeons and raids is to focus on minimising your movement to maximise the time that can be spent casting spells with a cast time. For those periods where you do have to move you can rely on the array of instant cast spells available to us including Prayer of Mending IconPrayer of Mending, Circle of Healing IconCircle of Healing, Holy Word: Serenity IconHoly Word: Serenity, Holy Word: Sanctify IconHoly Word: Sanctify, and, when talented, Divine Star IconDivine Star.

Holy Priest Common Mistakes

8.

Cooldown Usage for Holy Priest

As a Holy Priest, you have three baseline cooldowns. Here is how you should use them:

  • Divine Hymn IconDivine Hymn should be used during periods of very intense raid damage. Keep in mind, however, that your raid leader may instruct you to use it a very specific time.
  • Symbol of Hope IconSymbol of Hope should be used towards the end of a raid encounter to give the highest potential Mana back to all healers in your group. A good guide is either when you are at 20% Mana, or the boss is at 20% health remaining.
  • Guardian Spirit IconGuardian Spirit should be used depending on many factors, including on your raid leader's instructions. If you do not have to save Guardian Spirit for a specific event, then just use it as a "life-saver" on the tank or another raid member who needs it.

Thread: Easiest Healer to Learn

    Easiest Healer to Learn

Hi guys, apologies if this topic has come up recently (I did search the forums but couldnt find it). I decided to resub yesterday after not playing for about a year. I have all classes between 80-90 the majority at 90. I have never ever healed on any class but I decided to give it a bash as something a bit different.

Whats the common consensus for the easiest healing class to learn. From just casual research without any player feedback I would guess at a shaman. Ideally I would prefer to play as an undead so if monks or priests (D/H) are easy then that would be preferable. Obviously I dont expect to be amazing from the get go as I've never healed before so I imagine they all take a while to master.

I'm pretty much going to be just LFR etc to begin with until I feel comfortable with the class. I imagine vuhu/grid is a must?

Any additional hints and tips would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

While I can't attest to which is easiest to learn, here are my tips to make the learning process not half bad.

Vuhdo/grid/solid unit frame you understand how to read and how to modify it to your needs.

Mouseover macros will make you a champ, really saves a ton of time and I think required to heal (well no required but it certainly makes shit a lot easier)

Learning to heal? Throw yourself into a few random BGs. Its what I do because there is no oh fuck someone is dying then in random BGs, its what I've done since WotLK to learn to heal and to practice because there is so much damage going out. Extra points if your gear is weak because you'll have to work harder to keep yourself alive (seriously often overlooked I feel, can get so focused on others and forget about yourself) and your allies.

I haven't played anything but an R Druid in MoP and it wasn't too difficult to learn, however I've played on in the past (WotLK, Cata beta) so I feel like that had an impact. However R Druid is also unique because the power of hots allowing for some error in terms of casting too early.

I honestly would pick the class you seem most interested in, while I have a R Druid, and I do enjoy it, I feel I'd enjoy a shaman more, and while I haven't started leveling one, it is on my mind when I heal. All the healers, counting Disc/Holy separate, heal in a different manner, with some pretty different play styles. Haven't played a monk heals but I've heard its incredibly different than other healing classes. Good luck man and enjoy.

    Well said, plus

I can't say which class is easiest to learn, but I would go for a class you enjoy the most. I usually love healing w/ my shammy and priest.

That water effects on shammy casting heals is too damn awesome

Of the three I've played at cap the Priest and Shaman are about equal in terms of ease of playstyle, while Paladin seems considerably more difficult (atleast at the lower gear levels I've played with).

By far, priest is the easiest healer to play. You are in luck too, disc priest are the best healer atm for most situations too.

Hardest would be paladin and/or monks.

In terms of easiest to hardest, imo

It is tricky.. Priests are quite good and fun, but I do think that Monks are a better 'introduction' class.. and if you don't like it, you can always spec either tank or dps.

  • 2014-06-27, 03:09 PM#7

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm surprised that Priests seem to be the overwhelming choice. I would have thought that the atonement portion of healing would have made them harder to play.

Some good tips in there aswell about healing some BGs. I hadnt thought about that. Double positive points for being able to be undead aswell!

I have played all at 90 and i find shammys the easiest, disc priest being pretty close. Shammmy seems to suffer less from low gear levels. I used to love pala, but find it a bit clunky and difficult now and it seems to need better gear to do as well? druid and monk i's say are about equal, not really hard but not super easy either.

At the end of the day you need to play something you enjoy, that can be a race that you want to look at, and preferably has a dps offspec that you dont hate for doing those necessary bit of questing etc. Different people are good with different healing styles, play arund and see what suits you.

Right now this far into the expansion, I'd go with Disc Priest. The reason is because with the gear people have at the moment you can do an awful lot of healing with atonement (so Smite & Penance) plus some shields. This'll give you plenty of slack to play around with your other spells and see what they do, work out when you're likely to want them, etc.

Once you've got the hang of how your spells work you can look at also trying Holy, just needing to learn how their power's changed between specs. Then you can learn the skills Holy has which Disc doesn't.

During my Wow career, I have never been a healer. In Wrath I tried to be a disc priest, but ended up going shadow. When Mists released, I took my Elemental Shaman, and turned it Resto. It was an easy transition for me... so anecdotally, I would say Shaman.

I struggled a bit with Proven Healer on my disc priest (wrong gear I guess, not enough spirit) and read that druids were easier, so I specced resto on my druid for the first time since TBC and did Proven Healer as resto on the same day. So I can confirm that druids are definitely easy to learn.

I have all of them. I also use the base UI, never really got into that healbof stuff etc. In 5 mans I find Holy Paladins to be the easiest. They have a lot of oh shit stuff and never seem to run out of mana. If were talking a raid group, I'll go with shaman because if you can maintain healing rain and put drop a healing tide when things get messy you can skate by. As far as PVP goes, monks are super OP. They are a little more complex, but i think the potency of their abilities gives you an easier time overall so you can make more mistakes.

    Good luck.

Personally when I tried to use the base UI instead of healbot it kept breaking on me and people would disappear from my frames leading to unnecessary wipes, but if that doesn't happen to you I agree that while an addon makes it easier, it's not necessary. Though it does free up your action bars for more utility.
OT: I play shaman, paladin, monk, druid all as healers having the most experience with the shaman. I'm levelling a priest right now, so I can't really speak for difficulty, but personally I think, if i was going at it as a beginner, probably druid>shaman>paladin>monk. Druid's have a lot of ways to blanket heal with HoT's that allow you to react to more sources of damage. Shaman is easier at a lower item level due to having a lot of built in regen that allows you to be a bit more carefree with your mana. Paladin I only heal with for PvP, so I can't really talk much for PvE, but they have strong single target and duo target due to beacon, but you have to be a bit more careful with your mana. Monk's I personally find rather difficult, probably because I'm still not completely familiar with it, but if you mismanage your mana you can go oom very quickly, and though mana tea helps, it can take a while to regen up. These are just my opinions though, you mention that you have a majority of classes between 80-90, so my advice would be take each one that can heal out for a bit of a spin and see how you feel. Even in just normal dungeons you should be able to get a feel for general style and find which one suits you best! Good luck, healing is a lot of fun, especially when you find the class whose playstyle suits you best!

    Currently in Mists:

Priests and Druids are fairly easy. Monks are probably the toughest with their rotation between using mana, using Chi, and using mana tea (to gain back mana).

    In WoD:

Unknown as all healing classes are getting revamped. Visiting those specific class forums opens a can of worms on various discussions about the changes.

IMO, Disc Priest gameplay looks like it could be very different in WoD with the changes in Atonement and removal of Spirit Shell. Druids won't be able to rely on Efflorescence as much. Holy Priests does look more interesting without Chakras and I'm still unsure about Shaman and Holy Paladin healing.

    Wow easiest healer

The release of WoW TBC Classic made it so both the Horde and Alliance have access to Shamans and Paladin.Β

During Classic, each class’s healing specialization was powerful, but only being available to one faction made it difficult to compare the two.Β Now with Blood Elves bringing Paladins to the Horde and Draenei bringing Shamans to the Alliance, a whole new world of compositions are available.

For healers, this will mean more diversification as Alliance raids look to bring in numerous Restoration Shamans and Horde groups look to grab one or two Holy Paladins.

    Classes

    Restoration Shaman–S

Shamans are the strongest raid healers in the game and provide massive amounts of utility with their totems.

Chain Heal is the strongest ability in the game for healing multiple people in your raid at the same time. Meanwhile Shamans provide group utility through totems like Poison Cleansing, Disease Cleansing, Stoneskin, and Tremor totems.Β

Balanced raid compositions will have two to four Resto Shamans depending on how many Enhancement or Elemental Shamans the group wants to bring. Regardless of spec, you’ll want five Shamans total in your 25-man raid, one for each group.

    Holy Priest–A

Priest is the only class in the game that has two separate talent trees dedicated to healing specializations, and it shows.

The class provides important raid buffs like Prayer of Spirit and Power Word: Fortitude, and its utility extends to abilities like Power Word: Shield, Power Infusion, and Fear Ward.Β Priests are strong single-target healers, but they can also keep a raid topped off as well. You likely don’t want more than two Priests in a balanced composition just because of all the other party/raid buffs and utility various other classes provide.

    Holy Paladin–A

Holy Paladins are the best tank healers in the game. You likely don’t want more than one in your raid, but the role they fill is critical. What they lack in AoE healing, Holy Paladins make up for in pure, unadulterated single-target tank healing.

At the very least, one Holy Paladin in a raid will give all casters Improved Blessing of Wisdom to boost overall raid mana. They also provide utility with abilities like Blessing of Freedom.

    Restoration Druid–B

Restoration Druid was an important class to have in Classic specifically for giving the raid Mark of the Wild and debuffing bosses with Faire Fire. But their throughput was severely hindered by Classic’s buff cap that made it suboptimal for them to hit players with healing-over-time effects (HOTs).

In TBC, you’ll want to bring Druids for the same buffs and utility that made them necessary in Classic, but their viability will be increased significantly by changes to the buff cap situation that make it perfectly fine for them to roll HOTs on tanks and other players.

You will want to run one Resto Druid for Improved Mark of the Wild, but probably not more than that because of how much more powerful other classes are.
