Alphabet Ideas: The Letter E Activities!
Each week we have a special "letter of the week". During the week, we make crafts that feature the letter of the week and practice the upper and lower cases of the letter.
WHAT WE DO - ACTIVITIES: During the week we're learning about a particular letter (in this case the Letter E), we'll often do an activity celebrating that letter. One idea for the letter E is electricity. Visit the library and take out a non fiction book or two about electricity.
WHAT WE DO - OUR BODIES: Exercise!!
WHAT WE DO - CRAFTS: Decorate with eggshells! Wash them off and use the white eggshells as clouds or die them to make a coloured mural (either prior to eating the egg or afterwards). I know it sounds a bit odd but trust me, kids (especially young ones) love to "colour" in simple pictures with all different sorts of materials. With a few "odd" craft supplies, a simple colouring pages can become memorable craft experiences (for them and you).
WHAT WE DO - FOOD: Eggs are a very diverse little food. They can be hardboiled, scrambled, made into omlets or quiche. Try a few different preparations with your kids (make sure you let them crack an egg or two themselves!) You can also try making our Rice Crispie Earth recipe or our Eyeball Cookies. Very Yummy!

Letter E Craft Ideas
Here are some Letter E craft ideas to go along with your Letter of the Week. Remember that I have three kids doing these crafts and not one of them does every single project. The important thing is to find a project your child will enjoy reinforcing the letter E is a bonus!
Tissue Paper E
My four-year-old boy really loved this one. I printed out a large E and gave him a bag of tissue paper squares. He painted on a water/glue mixture and very carefully applied each square. He was very serious about doing a neat job. I think he would not have enjoyed this had we used straight Elmers or a glue stick. It would have been too messy and frustrating.
My toddler had no interest in the project. He did enjoy using the glue paint to attach tissue paper to an index card and the newspaper.
Heres an eagle craft I did with my two oldest when my daughter returned home from kindergarten. She traced her own hands and cut out her own eagle beak, but I drew the rest of the pieces for her to cut out. This was fromNiccis Little Angels.
Heres a quick, simple project. My four-year-old cut out his own (left). You can find this idea all over the Internet, but for a free pattern go toFun with Mama.
Cut & Paste Elmo
Even though my kids have never seen Elmo onscreen, they love him. (Youve got to hand it to Sesame Streets marketing team.) This was a fun craft for them. I cut out the pieces. Can you guess which one my two-year-old made? Get the pattern from Fun with Mama.
Paper Plate Elephant
We got this idea from Activity Village. My four-year-old painted the plate (he chose the color). The next day I cut out the other pieces for him to glue.
E is for Envelope
I know this envelope craft isnt the most beautiful thing to look at, but it is such a terrific, age-appropriate project for your toddler or preschooler. For instructions, visitNo Time for Flashcards.
Milk Jug Elmer
Okay, I feel a little bad about saying this, but Ive never really liked the Elmer books about the patchwork elephant. The stories just dont grab me. But when I saw this project on Pinterest, we had to read an Elmer book and save a milk jug. After I cut off the top of the jug and cut some more plastic to make the legs, my kindergartner used a water/glue mixture to attach the tissue paper.

Of her, Cabernet, and went to bed, and I, like a real scout-saboteur, changed into my old black tracksuit, on his feet old, barely alive, half-shoes, on his father's old ski hat, light gloves (no prints!) are ready for the night task. Quietly opening the door, I almost silently walked out into the corridor.
It looks like the whole house is asleep, one in the morning, all the same, the windows are dark everywhere, the. Silence, interrupted by the mighty snoring from the 12th apartment, Uncle Vitya Petrov, this is him, of course. I crept to the kindergarten, here, on the one hand, our veterans set up their garages with the permission of the executive committee.
