Who cares about standard definition? Yes, we love our HD. But there are times when we want to see the standard definition versions of our programs. Maybe you&#;re temporarily using a round dish, or maybe you&#;re temporarily using an old TV and want to fill the screen. No matter what the reason, DIRECTV makes it easy to change the guide to show both HD and SD versions of the same channels. Here are the steps you&#;ll need:

Press {MENU}

Arrow to &#;Settings and Help,&#; Press {SELECT}

Arrow to &#;Settings,&#; Press {SELECT}

Arrow to &#;Display,&#; Press {SELECT}

Arrow to &#;Preferences,&#; Press {SELECT}

Arrow to &#;Guide HD Channels,&#; Press {SELECT}

Arrow to &#;Show all channels,&#; Press {SELECT}

Press {EXIT} to return to live TV or press {GUIDE} to browse the guide.

You should now see the HD channel and SD channel on top of each other in the guide. To show only HD channels, use the same process but choose &#;Hide SD Duplicates.&#;

If you&#;re like most of us around here you probably haven&#;t tuned-in to a standard-definition channel since you bought a high-definition TV. So why is it that we need to scroll through all the SD duplicates when trying to find HD channels in the guide?

One way is to press GUIDE on the DirecTV remote control twice and use the down arrow button to select HDTV Channels. The option will only show you all the HD-assigned channels in the lineup.

But here&#;s a way to hide all the SD duplicates in the DirecTV Program Guide so there are less rows of channels to scroll through.

Grab your DirecTV remote and press MENU. Then, go to the Settings & Help section and follow this path: Settings > Display >Preferences. Using the down arrow on the remote control find &#;Guide HD Channels&#; and press SELECT. Finally, choose the option &#;Hide SD duplicates&#; and press SELECT again. You also have the option of hiding HD channels (if you&#;re using a standard-definition TV) and showing all channels available.

How To Fix DirecTV HD Channels Not Showing?

1. Cable Connections

2. SWiM Inserter

Yes, we are talking about the power inserter and if you are using that with DirecTV, you need to reboot it. This power inserter usually has two connections. So, you need to take out both these cables and let it rest for twenty minutes. Once you plug in the cables, you will be able to access the HD channels.

3. Obstructions

If there are signals obstructions from the satellite, the HD channels won’t be available. You could try checking the direction of the antenna and make it aligned at the prescribed location. However, if the antenna is in the right direction and position, we suggest talking to DirecTV about this issue. That’s to say because they can monitor your network in a better way and provide the solutions accordingly.

4. Receiver

If the receiver with DirecTV is working slowly, it will lead to the inaccessibility of HD channels. in this case, you need to fix this slow receiver issue. First of all, if you are using some dated receiver, switching to a new one will be the better option. However, if the receiver is already new, you could try clearing up the NV-RAM.

For this, you need to turn on channel number one and push the red button twice, then push the blue button twice, and press the yellow and green buttons one time. This sequence will fix the software issues in the receiver and you will be able to receive the HD channels. in addition to this, you need to refresh the receiver.

The receiver can be refreshed by going to the My DirecTV account and tapping on the managed package. It will open a new window and you need to select the refresh receiver option. This refresh will take a few minutes to complete, but after that, the HD channels will be readily available.
