Overview
With standard all-wheel drive and a suite of available safety tech at a price that undercuts competitors, the Subaru Legacy is a smart buy. A hp liter flat-four engine is standard and a hp liter flat-six engine is optional; both are paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). The Legacy's interior is comfortable, cargo space is class competitive, and smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is standard. But its performance fails to impress, the interior design and materials are dated, and several upscale features that have become common in mass-market cars are completely missing here. In ways large and small, the Legacy has failed to keep up with the rest of its class, which has been rapidly improving. The all-new Legacy is expected on dealer lots this fall and pricing has been announced.
What's New for ?
Subaru has made its EyeSight suite of driver-assistance features standard on all Legacy models. The package includes adaptive cruise control, automated emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist. Sport and Limited versions also receive blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert as standard; these features are optional on the Premium. Premium, Sport, and Limited models receive a new auto-dimming rearview mirror with a compass and HomeLink.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
Neither the Legacy's liter four-cylinder engine nor its liter six-cylinder powertrain are anything approaching powerful, even compared with its mass-market rivals. We'd skip the more expensive liter engine and choose the Premium trim instead. That model includes the following standard features: A way power-adjustable driver's seat, an inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
Likes: Standard all-wheel drive, competent handling, comfortable ride.
Dislikes: Feels underpowered, much slower than rival family sedans, steering feels imprecise.
The Legacy comes standard with all-wheel drive, which is a big advantage in this segment. Subaru's base flat-four-cylinder engine and continuously variable automatic transmission won't set any pulses to racing, though. The hp liter engine is on the low side of the class for power and doesn't have the grunt to motivate the Legacy with anything approaching enthusiasm. The i Sport sauntered to 60 mph in a languid seconds in our testing. The Legacy's hp liter flat-six required seconds to reach 60 mph when we tested it, which puts it right in line with the entry-level engines of the Honda Accord and the Mazda 6. That's not exactly impressive for a powertrain that commands a huge price premium.
The Legacy's compliant ride and willing chassis are two standout characteristics of an otherwise mediocre driving experience. Unfortunately, imprecise steering and more body lean in corners than we'd prefer mean it's not nearly as rewarding to drive as the Accord or the Mazda 6, two of our favorites in this class. Nevertheless, evidence suggests that Subaru's loyal customers would happily trade driving excellence for the peace of mind they derive from owning a sedan with all-wheel drive.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
Since the Legacy comes standard with all-wheel drive, it's not exactly a surprise that its two powertrains are less efficient than comparable engines in front-wheel-drive cars. At least the four-cylinder Legacy we tested lived up to its EPA ratings during our real-world highway fuel-economy test; it delivered 34 mpg when averaging 75 mph over the course of miles.
Interior, Infotainment, and Cargo
Likes: Comfortable rear seats, plenty of power points, large center-console storage bin.
Dislikes: Aging design, bargain-basement trim materials, no rear-seat center pass-through to trunk.
On paper, the Legacy's rear-seat legroom is lackluster: The Accord has inches more legroom in the back seat. In reality, however, the Legacy feels plenty roomy when you're in the rear seats. With the entry-level model's low starting price, it shouldn't come as a surprise that most desirable features cost extra in the Legacy.
Subaru's touchscreen infotainment system is easy to use, with large, colorful graphics and quick response times to user inputs. Every Legacy comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Legacy's standard infotainment system consists of a inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, a USB port, and an auxiliary input jack. An inch touchscreen is available and can be equipped with navigation. All trim levels except the base i come standard with four USB ports—two on the center stack and two on the back of the center console for rear-seat passengers.
The sedans in this segment are all very similar in size and structure, so even though the Legacy falls on the low end of the scale for cargo room, it's not far off from the best in the class. The Legacy has 15 cubic feet of cargo space, falling toward the bottom of the group of family sedans along with the Mazda 6 and the Toyota Camry. But the way the space is designed allows room for six pieces of carry-on luggage in the trunk.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
Subaru has built its reputation on safety, and the Legacy delivers on that promise. Stellar crash-test ratings and plenty of driver-assistance technology make it a standout in this class. Key safety features include:
- Standard automated emergency braking
- Standard lane-keeping assist and lane-departure warning
- Standard adaptive cruise control
Warranty and Maintenance Coverage
Subaru's warranty coverage is thoroughly average and fails to offer a welcome feature that competitors such as Chevrolet and Toyota do: complimentary scheduled maintenance.
- Limited warranty covers 3 years or 36, miles
- Powertrain warranty covers 5 years or 60, miles
- No complimentary scheduled maintenance
Based on data from 36 vehicles, 1, fuel-ups and , miles of driving, the Subaru Legacy gets a combined Avg MPG of with a MPG margin of error.

Soon a blind summer rain began to fall, and in addition to my father's belt, tight powerful jets of water drummed. Down my ass. The belt soon got wet, and this made Dad's blows even harder.

Grabbing them, the man brought them to his nose, sticking the very tip into the damp cloth. But there, not only by the smell it was sensitive, there was a mottle of them, at least wring it out. And the heard voice of a beloved and faithful wife, about mercy and discontent, completely dispelled doubts.
In despair, Igor did not know what to do. It was too late to stop, the wife already had a full program.

He was a very cute and kind guy, but I was afraid of him as someone else's and was ashamed of him, we did not succeed in friendship. Soon Sasha learned about my grief from my mother and on the same day he brought a rubber bulb for me. Perhaps it was Sashka's enema from his first aid kit.
