The air filter removes and traps dust, dirt, and other contaminants from the air being pulled into the engine. Member  | Very easy maintenance. Four clips total, two on front of box, two on the back. Pull the old one, maybe wipe out or vacuum any loose debris, then pop in the new one. They seem to do fine on coarse particle filtration, but they don't filter as well as paper on fine dust. I can get a Denso / OEM filter for $10, vs the cost of a K&N and the time, labor, and chemicals to maintain and clean them. They can also be easily damaged during the maintenance/cleaning process which means you should get another filter, but most don't realize and keep using a compromised filter. They claim to be a performance filter with a lower pressure drop across the filtration media, but that comes at a cost, and that cost is filtration performance. To make matters worse, its not like the added air flow does anything for our engines as we can't tune for it anyways so you give up protection for no gain. No such thing as a free lunch | |
