Best Warzone guns - the weapons you need in your loadout

The best Warzone gun can make a big difference to chances in Verdansk. Time to kill (TTK), damage over range, fire rate - any number of stats can decide who wins an encounter. But the highest numbers isn't the whole story - if you're best at mid-range in Call of Duty Warzone there's no point choosing a point black SMG, for example. If you're all about hip fire mobility you don't want an LMG just because everyone's talking about it right now.

That said there are some clear winners: while there are a slew of fantastic Warzone weapons, only some of them are at the top of the list in terms of viability. Developer Raven Software has done a fantastic job of tweaking weapon stats and there are now way more viable weapons than before. Warzone is also ever-changing, meaning the best Warzone gun from a year ago might not be viable today. There are a small handful of exceptions to this, but for the most part, Warzone weapons tend to ebb and flow in terms of usability. With that in mind, here are the 10 best Warzone guns as of season 4.

  • Muzzle: Gru Suppressor
  • Barrel: 18.7″ Spetsnaz RPK Barrel
  • Optic: Axial Arms 3x
  • Underbarrel: Spetsnaz Grip
  • Ammunition: Spetsnaz 60 Rnd

The FARA 83 is one of the highlights of Warzone, thanks to its range. This is a fantastic weapon to use from afar, or even as a sniper support. The FARA 83 is easy to control and has low recoil, making it a top choice for long-range. Check out the best Warzone FARA 83 loadouts to see just how versatile this Warzone gun is.

  • Muzzle: Sound Suppressor
  • Barrel: 15.7” Task Force
  • Stock: Raider Stock
  • Ammunition: Spetsnaz 71 Rnd Drum
  • Rear Grip: Serpent Grip

The PPSh-41 is great for many reasons, particularly its fast time to kill (TTK), quick aim down sights (ADS) speed, and high ammo count. It also has relatively low recoil and even excels at range, which is why this weapon is so versatile. We've got a few Warzone best PPSh 41 loadouts here you can try out.

  • Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
  • Barrel: Singuard Custom 27.6”
  • Laser: Tac Laser
  • Optic: Sniper Scope
  • Rear Grip: Stippled Grip Tape

When it comes to fast-paced snipers, it doesn’t get any better than the Kar98k. This is what the pro players use because it can down an enemy in only one shot. It has fast ADS times, high damage, and is pretty easy to use, even if you’re not the best sniper. If, for some reason, you don't want this option then check out the Warzone best sniper options to see what else you can try for range.

Cold War MP5

  • Muzzle: Sound Suppressor
  • Barrel: 9.5” Task Force
  • Stock: Raider Stock
  • Underbarrel: SFOD Speedgrip
  • Ammunition: STANAG 50 Rnd Drum

The Cold War MP5 is an excellent choice up close. It doesn’t do well from afar, but up to around 17 meters or so, this thing is a beast and is hard to beat. It hits hard, has fast ADS speeds, and is consistent even when hip-firing. We highly suggest building this one for close quarters. The Warzone MP5 builds will help you pick a set up and better explain the differences between the Cold War and Modern Warfare variants.

  • Muzzle: Agency Suppressor
  • Barrel: 16.4” Task Force
  • Optic: Axial Arms 3x
  • Underbarrel: Field Agent Grip
  • Ammunition: Fast Mag

Even after its recent nerf, the MG82 is a beast in Warzone. It has an incredibly high fire rate, but is still easy to control, even at long range. The main thing holding it back is its slow reload and low mobility, but you can actually deck it out to make up for both of those shortcomings and our best Warzone MG82 loadouts will show you how.

Krig 6

  • Muzzle: Agency Suppressor
  • Barrel: 15” CMV Mil-Spec
  • Optic: Axial Arms 3x
  • Underbarrel: Field Agent Foregrip
  • Ammunition: STANAG 60 Rnd

The Krig 6 is a laser beam. And it has a competitive TTK, as well. It doesn’t hit the hardest, but you’ll find it to be highly consistent due to how accurate it is. And, much like the FARA 83, you can build the Krig 6 to be a long range machine, or a sniper support weapon, so take some time to experiment!

  • Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
  • Barrel: XRK Zodiac S440
  • Optic: VLK 3.0x Optic
  • Underbarrel: Commando Foregrip
  • Ammunition: 45 Round Mags

The CR-56 AMAX is still one of the best assault rifles in Warzone thanks to its high power and manageable recoil. It’s not the easiest weapon to use because of its lower rate of fire, but if you hit your shots, this thing shreds, even after its recent nerf.

  • Muzzle: Agency Suppressor
  • Barrel: 13.9” Task Force
  • Laser: Tiger Team Spotlight
  • Stock: Raider Stock
  • Ammunition: STANAG 55 Rnd

The nice thing about the LC10 is that it works well up close and at medium range. Many SMGs are basically useless past 15 meters or so, but the LC10 is reliable from afar. It also has clean iron sights, which saves an attachment slot, as well. This is one of the most competitive SMGs in all of Warzone. Our Warzone best LC10 loadouts will help you find a few other variations you can play with.

ZRG 20mm

  • Muzzle: Wrapped Suppressor
  • Barrel: 43.9″ Combat Recon
  • Stock: SAS Combat Stock
  • Ammunition: 5 Rnd
  • Rear Grip: Serpent Grip

The ZRG 20mm frankly doesn’t get enough love, but statistically, it’s the best sniper rifle in the game, at least in terms of bullet velocity. It has high damage, relatively fast ADS speeds, and is consistent. You’ll find this one harder to use at first, but once you’ve got the best attachments, it’ll click. Try out some of our best Warzone ZRG 20mm loadouts to see what you can do.

  • Muzzle: Agency Suppressor
  • Barrel: 13.5” Task Force
  • Optic: Visiontech 2x
  • Ammunition: STANAG 60 Rnd
  • Rear Grip: Serpent Grip

Finally, the XM4 is an ideal choice since it’s so versatile. It can be built like an SMG, assault rifle, and sniper support, with several loadout options to choose from. This means there’s plenty of room to experiment. The Cold War assault rifles give you better mobility than the ones from Modern Warfare, so you’ll always feel nimble when using this one.

The best Warzone loadouts and class setups

If you're on the hunt for the best Warzone loadouts as of Season 6, you're in the right place. Season 6 has kept things fairly smooth; we haven't had massive alterations in the patch notes like some previous seasons. In the final season of Cold War as the main COD instalment before the release of Vanguard, it's worth keeping up to date, though.

There's a long list of the best Warzone guns if you really fancy mixing things up too. With Season 6, we have new weapons, new combinations, and things to look out for including attachments, perks, and throwables.

Best Warzone loadout list: The best setups for Season 6

Grav & .410 Ironhide

  • Muzzle: Suppressor
  • Barrel: 18.7" Takedown
  • Optic: Axial Arms 3x
  • Underbarrel: Field Agent Grip
  • Magazine: RK-7 30 Rnd Conversion

There are plenty of ways to run Season 6's new gun, the Grav. This one works brilliantly with a close-up gun like an SMG or shotgun. With the ammo conversion, you'll deal massive damage at medium ranges at the cost of difficult-to-handle recoil values. You can take a look at the best Warzone Grav loadout if you fancy a bit more information on it too.

.410 Ironhide

  • Muzzle: Sound Suppressor
  • Laser: Tiger Team Spotlight
  • Stock: Marathon Stock
  • Magazine: STANAG 8 Rnd Tube
  • Rear Grip: Serpent Wrap

Season 6's new Shotgun, the .410 Ironhide, is a niche pick for Warzone. The lever-action might not be to your taste, and that's absolutely fine—just grab a different secondary. If you fancy something unique, though, this loadout is a super speedy shotgun loadout that'll work great alongside your mid-range AR. Check out my best .410 Ironhide loadout for more on it, as well as another way to run the gun.

EM2 & OTs 9

  • Muzzle: Agency Suppressor
  • Barrel: 25.8" Task Force
  • Optic: Axial Arms 3x
  • Underbarrel: Field Agent Grip
  • Ammunition: STANAG 50 Rnd

The EM2 has had its recoil increased slightly in Season 6, but still holds its own pretty well. With strong damage and a fast time-to-kill—as long as you can hit your shots with that low fire rate—the EM2 still slaps. Check out the build above, or go a bit deeper in my fully-fledged best EM2 loadout guide.

OTs 9

  • Muzzle: GRU Suppressor
  • Barrel: 8.1” Task Force
  • Stock: KGB Skeletal Stock
  • Underbarrel: Spetsnaz Grip
  • Ammunition: Spetsnaz 40 Rnd

The OTs 9 rocked up into Verdansk for Season 4 Reloaded ready to rumble, and it still does a great job. It operates at a significantly different range to the EM2, so complements the assault rifle excellently. It's still valid in Season 6. This great SMG came into the meta during a round of huge nerfs to other guns, and its ludicrous time-to-kill up close has made it a force to be reckoned with. Check out my best OTs 9 loadouts page for a bit more information, as well as an extra-special setup which makes you move ridiculously fast.

C58 & MAC-10

  • Muzzle: Suppressor
  • Barrel: 18.5” Task Force
  • Optic: Axial Arms 3x
  • Ammunition: STANAG 55 Rnd
  • Rear Grip: Airborne Elastic Wrap

Season 4's C58 is still going strong. A recoil nerf in Season 6 isn't enough to stop it being a really solid choice. Check out our comprehensive Warzone C58 loadout guide for more on how to run this weapon, but what you really need to know is it’s a versatile weapon that’ll serve you extremely well when you're in the flow of a game.

  • Muzzle: Agency Suppressor
  • Barrel: 5.9" Task Force
  • Laser: Tiger Team Spotlight
  • Stock: Raider Stock
  • Ammunition: STANAG 53 Rnd Drum

Is that the MAC-10? Dominating the meta once again? It's not quite as broken as it used to be, but the MAC-10's fantastic time-to-kill value can still shred enemies at a bonkers rate. Of course, your recoil is a tad gnarly with this gun, but with our best MAC-10 loadout you'll be destroying your enemies in no time.

CR-56 AMAX & CX-9

  • Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
  • Barrel: XRK Zodiac S440
  • Optic: VLK 3.0x Optic
  • Underbarrel: Commando Foregrip
  • Ammunition: 45 Round Mags

The king is not dead. Don’t let anyone tell you the AMAX is unviable now: it’s just been pegged back to let other weapons into the meta. You can still shred enemies at range, and if you’ve got used to it in previous metas, it’s going to help you out in Season 6 as well. You’ll need to get three gunbutt kills with an AR in ten different matches to unlock the AMAX, but the grind is still worth it.

  • Barrel: CX-38S
  • Stock: CX-FR
  • Underbarrel: Merc Foregrip
  • Ammunition: 50 Round Drums
  • Perk: Sleight of Hand

The CX-9 is a really solid SMG, and it'll be easy peasy to unlock if you're a Modern Warfare 2019 owner. Take a look at our guide for the best CX-9 loadouts if you fancy learning a bit more about how to run this gun.

AK-47 (CW) & Kar98k

AK-47 (Cold War)

  • Muzzle: GRU Suppressor
  • Barrel: 15.5” Ultralight
  • Stock: KGB Skeletal Stock
  • Underbarrel: Spetsnaz Speedgrip
  • Ammunition: Bakelite 60 Rnd

The AK-47 is effective at most ranges, but you'd be surprised how well it performs from close up. With this loadout, the Cold War AK has a surprisingly fast strafe and movement speed thanks to the Ultralight barrel and KGB Skeletal Stock, so give it a go alongside a speedy sniper like the Kar98k and you’ll have a brilliant time. It's still strong in Season 6, and one of the more popular guns for a reason.

Also, have a look at the best AK-47 loadouts page to see more ways to set up your AK class.

  • Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
  • Barrel: Singuard Custom 27.6"
  • Laser: Tac Laser
  • Optic: Sniper Scope
  • Stock: FTAC Sport Comb

Long-time Warzone players will be more than familiar with the best Kar98k loadout, as it's always been very reliable when you need to quickly pick off enemies in the distance. This particular setup increases your ADS speed, so if you spot an opponent, you can take them down instantly. It’s shockingly fast compared to other sniper rifles, but remember that you’ll need to account for bullet velocity much more than with heavier rifles like the HDR.

M4A1 & Bullfrog

Krig 6

  • Muzzle: Agency Suppressor
  • Barrel: 15" CMV Mil-Spec
  • Optic: Axial Arms 3x
  • Underbarrel: Field Agent Grip
  • Ammunition: STANAG 60 Rnd

The Krig 6 was hit by an accuracy nerf for Season 6, by far its strongest feature. You might expect this to utterly cut it out of the current, but the Krig is as popular and high-performing as ever. As long as you get used to the new recoil pattern, you can still find the Krig to be ultra-reliable, powerful enough, and a great pick in Verdansk. Have a look at our best Krig 6 loadouts page for more.

  • Muzzle: GRU Suppressor
  • Barrel: 7.4" Task Force
  • Optic: Millstop Reflex
  • Stock: KGB Skeletal Stock
  • Ammunition: 65 Rnd

The Bullfrog remains up there as a top SMG, and it pairs perfectly with the long-range Krig. With a big ol’ magazine capacity and great range for an SMG, this one is great to switch to while you run around indoors, or to follow up on shots if you run out of ammunition in your primary weapon at range. It's criminally underrated—have a look at our best Bullfrog loadouts page for more tips.

RAM-7 & MP5

  • Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
  • Barrel: FSS Ranger
  • Optic: VLK 3.0x Optic
  • Underbarrel: Commando Foregrip
  • Ammunition: 50 Round Mags

The RAM-7 may be an assault rifle from Modern Warfare, but it has no trouble holding its own in Warzone Season 6. To this day it offers respectable range and accuracy compared to others in its class, making it the perfect companion for SMGs and other ARs. It's criminally underrated, and if you're not using it, give it a gonow. Have a look at the best RAM-7 loadouts for more.

MP5 (CW)

  • Muzzle: Agency Suppressor
  • Laser: Tiger Team Spotlight
  • Grip: Serpent Grip
  • Stock: Raider Stock
  • Ammunition: STANAG 50 Rnd Drum

The Cold War MP5 still packs a brutal punch indoors and at close ranges, with the likes of the Raider Stock, Serpent Grip, and Tiger Team Spotlight all doing wonders for the weapon’s mobility and your character’s movement speed. Get it out when your RAM-7 feels that little bit too cumbersome for close up, with my best MP5 loadouts.

Swiss K31 & FARA 83

Swiss K31

  • Muzzle: GRU Suppressor
  • Barrel: 24.9” Combat Recon
  • Laser: SWAT 5mw Laser Sight
  • Optic: Axial Arms 3x
  • Rear Grip: Serpent Grip

The Swiss K31 has taken a lot of time to become popular in the Warzone meta, but it sure is now. With an ADS speed rivalling even the best aggressive snipers like the Kar98k, the Swiss K31 is well on its way to the crown when it comes to quick-scoping. Of course, you’ll need to practice with it, especially if you aren’t quite used to the gun’s bullet velocity and such, but it’s well worth a try—especially with our best Swiss K31 loadouts.

  • Muzzle: Suppressor
  • Laser: Tiger Team Spotlight
  • Underbarrel: Bruiser Grip
  • Ammunition: Spetsnaz 60 Rnd
  • Stock: KGB Skeletal Stock

The FARA 83 is a fantastic shout for backing up one of the popular, super speedy snipers. It's got power, range, and just enough mobility to make it work in a lot of situations - even in close-quarters when you're not quite ready for the fight. Here's our picks for the best FARA 83 loadouts if you want more.

Stoner 63 & PPSh-41

Stoner 63

  • Muzzle: Agency Suppressor
  • Barrel: 21.8" Task Force
  • Optic: Axial Arms 3x
  • Ammunition: 120 Rnd Speed Mag
  • Rear Grip: Airborne Elastic Wrap

The Stoner 63 undoubtedly has what it takes to steal the show in Season 6. It can down an entire squad without the need to reload, and the damage combined with your excellent accuracy can completely dominate at long range. Check out our guide for the best Stoner 63 loadouts for a bit more in-depth detail.

  • Muzzle: Sound Suppressor
  • Laser: Tiger Team Spotlight
  • Stock: Raider Stock
  • Underbarrel: Bruiser Grip
  • Ammunition: 55Rnd Drum

The PSSh-41 can take out enemies quickly, especially when they're right on top of you. It's also very easy to control, and you won't need to restrict your movement to yield good results. For more ideas on how to round off your build, check out our best PPSh-41 Warzone loadouts.

ZRG 20mm & M13

ZRG 20mm

  • Muzzle: Sound Moderator
  • Barrel: 43.9" Combat Recon
  • Optic: Royal & Kross 4x
  • Ammunition: 5 Rnd
  • Rear Grip: Airborne Elastic Wrap

The HDR has been many Warzone players' favourite sniper rifle for a while now, but it's time to switch to the ZRG 20mm. It has the least bullet drop without having to compromise range, and last season’s buffs made it even better leading to an extremely speedy bullet velocity. If you need help choosing attachments for this gun, we have a page for the best ZRG 20mm Warzone loadouts.

  • Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
  • Barrel: Tempus Marksman
  • Optic: VLK 3.0x Optic
  • Underbarrel: Commando Foregrip
  • Ammunition: 60 Round Mags

Backing up this HDR is the M13, the old-school Modern Warfare pick for laser-beam ARs. You won't have to worry about missing too many shots with this weapon: decking it out as I have here just makes recoil a thing of the past. It's not as powerful as some of its rivals, but if you can play around the closing circle you can avoid those close-up conflicts all together and not have to worry about it. Here's our best M13 loadout for more.

Grau 5.56 & Sykov

Grau 5.56

  • Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
  • Barrel: Tempus 26.4" Archangel
  • Underbarrel: Commando Foregrip
  • Ammunition: 60 Round Mags
  • Perk: Fully Loaded

It's always good to have a Fully Loaded class ready to rumble when possible. If you get sent to the Gulag, you'll want to have a loadout that'll fill your ammo reserves up immediately when you drop back in. Check out our best Grau 5.56 loadouts page if you fancy learning a bit more.

Sykov (Single)

  • Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
  • Barrel: Sorokin 140mm Auto
  • Laser: Tac Laser
  • Ammunition: 80 Round Drums
  • Rear Grip: VLK Prizrak

The Sykov pistol isn't quite as potent as it was when it was first released, but it's still worth saving a spot for it. Now that we're over dual-wielding it using the Akimbo perk, we can focus on its single build. It's an aggressive little firearm that deals impressive damage. You'll want to equip its whopping 80 Round Drums to take full advantage of its stellar fire rate. These are the best Sykov loadouts, if you want to explore alternative setups.

  • Muzzle: Agency Silencer
  • Barrel: 20.8" Strike Team
  • Optic: Axial Arms 3x
  • Underbarrel: Field Agent Foregrip
  • Ammunition: 45 Rnd Speed Mag

Want a nice, long-range LMG? You have a fair few choices, as shown by our list of the best Warzone LMGs, but the RAAL MG is a personal favourite. Unlocked by getting five kills in seven matches while using LMGs equipped with a Scout Optic, you might just fall in love with it if you haven't tried it yet. It's now back in the game after accidentally being deleted by the devs, too. Why not celebrate by trying it out? Have a look at our best RAAL MG loadouts if you want a bit more insight into how to play with it.

AMP 63

  • Muzzle: Agency Suppressor
  • Barrel: 6.1" Reinforced Heavy
  • Laser: Tiger Team Spotlight
  • Ammunition: STANAG 25 Rnd
  • Rear Grip: Serpent Wrap

Want a nice automatic pistol and not a fan of the Sykov? Cold War’s AMP63 is the one for you. We have more information on a best AMP63 loadouts page, but all you need to know is that this thing can go toe-to-toe with SMGs close up and allow you to run Ghost or Restock. What a treat.

Want a full lowdown on Warzone's perks? Well, if this isn't enough information, check out my handy primer on the best Warzone perks.

If you just want an overview, read on.

E.O.D reduces the damage you take from non-killstreak explosives and fire, making it a popular choice for most loadouts. There are other options, but for the most part you’ll have your life saved by this perk more often than not.

If you want to run two primary weapons in your loadout, you need the Overkill perk. All other Tier-2 perks should come after this one, unless you've got very lucky with ground loot.

If you're happy to head into Verdansk with a handgun or launcher, it's worth doing so for the Ghost perk. You'll find a Heartbeat Sensor in most players' Tactical slots, and this perk makes sure you're undetectable by Heartbeat Sensors, UAVs, and Radar Drones.

Amped is useful in almost every single class in Warzone. If you're not using a pistol, that fast weapon swap speed is extremely important and can absolutely change gunfights in your favour. Getting that extra few frames to start shooting your secondary is often a life-and-death situation, and Amped has saved the skin of many a player.

Combat Scout

Only added in Season 5, Combat Scout is an absolutely amazing perk. It highlights enemies through walls when you shoot them, as well as briefly live-pinging them on your map for your teammates to see. No matter how good you are at communication, this is going to help you a ridiculous amount.

Lethal & Tactical

Lethal: Thermite/C4/Semtex
Thermite is currently the meta choice, and it's easy to understand why. It's perfect for finishing off injured opponents quickly. If you're not a fan, C4 is a good alternative. This explosive can also be tossed on roofs to take out multiple squad members at once. That said, I prefer using a Semtex as it's easier to throw it at moving targets.

Tactical: Heartbeat Sensor/Stun Grenades
Verdansk is a large map, and even when you're skulking around indoors it can be very difficult to locate your enemies. Sniffing out the competition is much easier with the help of the Heartbeat Sensor, which also happens to be the best Tactical in Warzone. Just remember: Enemies with Ghost won’t show up, so keep an ear out for footsteps, too. Stun Grenades are a bit more of a tricksy choice, and are absolutely amazing for when you know someone's lurking in a room. Just chuck a stunner and the enemy won't be able to land a shot before you've downed them. Just remember - you only get a maximum of two of them, so make it count.

Warzone best weapons in Season 6: Our best AR, sniper rifle, shotgun, SMG and LMG weapon recommendations

Learning the best guns in Warzone is difficult with an ever-shifting meta and the introduction of weapons from new Call of Duty games - such as Cold War: Black Ops in late 2020 - shaking up the roster.

There's a huge number of Warzone weapons now available, and though every has their favourites, there are definitely winners and losers among the list.

Choosing the right weapon can give you a huge advantage over other players, and if you then learn to control their recoil and offset their idiosyncrasies, then you'll be unstoppable.

We've been out there in Verdansk messing around with everything we could get our hands on, allowing us to present the best weapons in Warzone, category by category.

On this page:

What are the best new guns in Warzone after the Season 6 update?

It used to be that you could just visit our list of the best guns in Modern Warfare to also learn what's the best in Warzone, but times have changed. Warzone has become its own beast at this point, and Season 3 even went ahead and ditched the presence of Modern Warfare weapons entirely as loot (don't worry, your loadouts still count!).

The update in December 2020, which reset the Season count in Warzone back to 1, marked a new foundation for Warzone with an array of additions and new weapon classes from the latest Call of Duty game, Black Ops: Cold War.

Season 2 Reloaded was present all the way from late February to April. Then, Season 3 officially kicked things off with several balance updates and new weapons, following with a 80s focused mid-season update with Season 3 Reloaded, bringing new updates to both old and new favourites.

The regular Verdansk map got nuked at the end of Season 2, and players were teleported back to 1984. This brought a new gulag as well as several new points of interest. With Season 4 the map remains fairly similar, although some strange appearances have started taking place, such as satellites falling from the sky.

As players continue unraveling everything that has changed post this new season update, there have been some interesting changes already. The Dead Silence field upgrade is under consideration for changes soon, while the controversial Roze skin has been nerfed. Oh, and there is also a deadly door, just FYI.

In terms of weapons we have seen interesting changes around barrels, as well as the addition of a strangely powerful Nail Gun and a new LMG called MG 82 that immediately jumped to the meta. As expected, developer Raven went ahead and nerfed it a couple days after launch. The C58 also appeared during the first half of the season.

Jumping into Season 4 Reloaded, tonnes of weapons received changes in what was called "the biggest balance update in the history of Warzone" by the developer. In addition, the OTs 9 introduced itself as the latest SMG to join the roster. The Blueprint Blitz event also took place during the week before the new season launch.

Speaking of which, Season 5 showed up after the myriad of changes that took place in Season 4 Reloaded with a few more additions, including the EM2, TEC-9, Marshal and RAAL MG. In addition, events like the Battle of Verdansk were also present.

As Call of Duty: Vanguard draws near, Season 5 Reloaded didn't make for a big of an impact. The main focus is on Mobile Broadcast Stations and the conclusion of The Numbers event, which includes the Sai melee weapon as a reward. That being said, there were significant tweaks and updates to the weapons roster, affecting popular choices like the Krig 6.

Season 6 is upon us, and with it the closure of the Adler's storyline before Vanguard. New weapon additions include the Grav, .410 Ironhide and the Battle Axe melee weapon. In season, the Hammer and Sickle melee weapon joins the roster, while the LAMA SMG is a reward from The Haunting Event, just in time for Halloween.

Best AR in Warzone recommendation

Best weapon recommendation: AK-47 (Cold War)
How to unlock the C58: Reach Player Level 7

After undergoing several changes across Season 3 and Season 4, the CR-56 AMAX was finally pushed down the ladder. It remained as a decent option for some time afterwards, mind you, but others have taken the reign since.

During Season 4 reloaded, the C58 was the popular choice and our personal favourite. This assault rifle didn't cause much stride during the first week or so of the season, but had found itself in the top place ever since.

However, Season 6 brought yet more balance tweaks to it, increasing its recoil on top of previous changes during Season 5. As a result, the AK-47 (Cold War) is now the best option if you're looking for firepower that excels at range.

Best Sniper Rifle in Warzone recommendation

Best weapon recommendation: Swiss K31
How to unlock the Swiss K31: Get two Headshot kills in 15 different completed matches using any sniper rifle (in Black Ops: Cold War or Warzone)

Sniper Rifles have slowly but surely been receiving a better treatment overall from Raven, all the way from bullet velocity to the way attachments work. Past favourites such as the ZRG 20mm or the LW3 Tundra are still good options, but a particular top choice of ours, the Swiss K31, continues to be on the spotlight.

With the right attachments, this is as fast as you can get with a sniper rifle in Warzone at the moment. ADS speed, rate of fire, and just overall specs make this an excellent option to consider for your loadouts.

If you want to get the most out of this sniper rifle, see our best Swiss K31 loadout recommendation.

Best Marksman Rifle in Warzone recommendation

Best weapon recommendation: KAR98K
How to unlock the KAR98K: Reach Player Level 33 (in Modern Warfare or Warzone)

The Marksman Rifles can often end up feeling a bit like a diet Sniper Rifle, but thanks to constant tweaks throughout Warzone's existence the KAR87K can almost rival them. Even now in Season 2, the weapon hasn't received any nerfs, so it still retains the same range, damage, and accuracy from the first Season, as well as its mobility.

We highly recommend opting for this if you're used to Sniper Rifles, since this weapon works best when you're aiming for headshots. Its biggest advantage comes down to its ADS speed (aim down sight), which is unparalleled compared to Snipers.

Best Tactical Rifle in Warzone recommendation

Best weapon recommendation: M16
How to unlock the M16: Reach Player Level 10 (in Black Ops: Cold War or Warzone)

The AUG withheld its place throughout most of the duration of Season 2, but the Season 3 balance patch increased its time between bursts by 33 per cent, as well as lowering its neck damage multiplier. The M16, whilst also affected by similar changes, doesn't see a drastic change in the battlefield.

The time between bursts was only increased by 10 per cent in comparison, and it remains super fast still. Paired with its short time to kill, the M16 is the best tactical rifle during the start of the season. Just make sure to increase its magazine capacity and focus on attachments that decrease its overall ADS time and sprint speed to further enhance its qualities.

If you want to get the most out of the weapon, our best M16 loadout recommendation can help.

Best Shotgun in Warzone recommendation

Best weapon recommendation: JAK-12
How to unlock the JAK-12: Get three Hipfire Kills using Shotguns in seven different matches

Shotguns have been all over the place in terms of preference for Warzone. The Gallo was a reliable option in the previous season, but it can't quite compare to the Streetsweeper and the JAK-12. Amongst these two, we always opt for the lethal Hipfire of the JAK.

If you ask us, shotguns in Warzone are at their best when you don't have to worry about aiming down the sight to land a headshot, especially when you have to stop mid-sprint to defend yourself.

Of course, it would be wise to pair this weapon with the AUG or the LC10, just to cover different bases depending on the situation.

But when it comes to close quarter encounters, this is the one for you.

Best SMG in Warzone recommendation

Best weapon recommendation: Bullfrog
How to unlock the Bullfrog: Reach Player Level 43

The PPSh-41 introduced itself as a daunting SMG from the get-go, mixing rapid fire with the possibility to have a huge ammo mag that supported its nature. With not too much to worry about reloading and a decent hip fire as a cool bonus, it had a promising prospect, and retained its spot for a while.

While it was surpassed by the MAC-10 during the vast majority of Season 4 and the first half of Season 5, the Bullfrog has regained its spot. When paired up with the right attachments, the significant firepower in both close to mid ranges and decent mag size by default make for a powerhouse of a weapon.

If you want to get the most out of this SMG, see our best Bullfrog loadout recommendation.

Such as assault rifles, there is a variety of top choices to experiment with at the moment, including the PPSh-41 and MAC-10. But as of now, the Bullfrog stands at the top.

Best LMG in Warzone recommendation

Best weapon recommendation: MG 82
How to unlock the MG 82: Kill 3 or more enemies without reloading across 15 different completed matches using LMGs

While the Stoner 63 used to be our primary choice during most of Season 4, the MG 82 still can't be beaten.

This first introduced as an absolute powerhouse with a massive mag, quick fire rate and moderate recoil for a weapon of its category, but got nerfed in the span of days.

While it has been a target for tweaks during more occasions, it still maintains most of what makes it a powerhouse. Recoil has been the most affected aspect, but overall, you will continue to see the MG 82 fairly often during Season 5.

If you want to get the most out of the weapon, our best MG 82 loadout recommendation can help.

Best Launcher in Warzone recommendation

Best weapon recommendation: Strela-P (Modern Warfare)
How to unlock the Strela-P: Reach Player Level 17 (in Black Ops: Cold War or Warzone)

We know launchers might be a bit much for Warzone, especially when you could be using that loadout room for literally any other weapon. But if you end up in a situation where you have to choose one, we recommend the Strela-P.

The Strela is great at firing vehicles (or any unfortunate enemy who happens to be in the way of that rocket), and it has a particular high velocity that you don't usually find in other launchers. Amidst the other options from this category, the Strela is certainly the best one.

Warzone Season 6 is here! New are Vanguard weapons STG 44 and Garand, WW2 bunkers and the .410 Ironhide and Grav. Elsewhere, learn our recommendations for the best Warzone weapons across the game, including best assault rifles and popular choices such as the AMAX, C58, MG 82, OTs 9, FARA 83, Stoner 63, AK-47, Bullfrog, PPSh-41 and Swiss K31.

Best Melee weapon in Warzone recommendation

Best weapon recommendation: Kali Sticks (Modern Warfare)
How to unlock the Kali Sticks: Using the Knife, get 3 kills while sliding in 15 different matches (in Modern Warfare or Warzone)

Melee weapons wouldn't usually be our first choice when it comes to Warzone weaponry, but we aren't here to judge. If you want to see how far you can go with this category, we highly recommend carrying the Kali Sticks with you as a secondary option for your loadout.

You will most likely need two hits instead of one to take down an enemy, but the Kali Sticks provide a fast and reliable way to do so thanks to the range they have. Just don't blame us if your squadmates get mad at you for choosing this over a fire weapon. At the very least, you'll be bringing the best sticks available to a gunfight.

Now, let's talk in more detail about the S-Tier weapons in this table, which we consider to be the very best guns in Warzone.

A Warzone C58 loadout

After a nerf to the EM2, the C58 is once again the king of long-range Assault Rifles. It has massive headshot damage, so with a single headshot it becomes one of the fastest-killing ARs in Warzone. With two headshots, it is unbeatable. This is a high skill-floor weapon relative to something like the Krig 6, but if you have the skill needed this is the best Assault Rifle in Warzone.

For a helping hand, check out our C58 loadout guide!

The EM2 rifle in Warzone

The EM2 caught a quick nerf after launching wildly overpowered, but it is still a great long-range Assault Rifle. It hits incredibly hard, and with a couple of headshots, it will shred enemies. The EM2 fits a similar high-skill ceiling mold to the C58, but with a lower floor. If you’re missing shots, the EM2 will struggle. If you’re on target though, it is exceptionally powerful. Plus, the default optic now has much-improved ADS speed, so there’s some room to play around with your builds if you like the sight picture.

Visit our EM2 loadout guide to get the best build.

A QBZ Warzone loadout

For months now, the Krig has been by far the most popular Assault Rifle in Warzone. The QBZ fills a very similar role. Both rifles have very low recoil, and can just beam enemies at huge distances. However, after nerfs to the Krig in Seasons 4 and 5, the QBZ is mathematically superior. It will take some time for their usage statistics to catch up to their power levels, so get ahead of the curve while you can. The QBZ should be your low-recoil, long-range AR of choice in Season 5.

If you're new to the weapon, check out our QBZ loadout guide to learn more.

A Blueprint for the OTs 9 SMG in Warzone Season 4 Reloaded

OTs 9

The OTs 9 has similarly out-of-line damage. Nothing else in the SMG category comes close to touching it right now. Unfortunately, the tiny magazine is still a pain point in team modes, and really the only thing keeping this gun from being completely overpowered. With where the damage sits right now though, it's easy to put up with the magazine size. This is the best SMG in Warzone Season 5.

We have an awesome guide on the best OTs 9 loadout for Warzone if you need ideas.

A Warzone MAC-10 loadout

The MAC-10 sits in S tier simply because of reliability. Through every balance change and meta shift of the past eight months, the MAC-10 has remained a great SMG. It has excellent mobility, low recoil, great hipfire, and respectable damage. The MAC-10 doesn’t melt enemies quite as fast as the OTs 9, but its bigger magazine makes it more forgiving. It has been hard to go wrong with the MAC-10 for the entire Cold War era. That hasn’t changed in Season 5.

If you need help with the build, head over to our MAC-10 loadout guide for Warzone.

The Cold War AK-47 in Warzone on a blank background.

AK-47 (Cold War)

The Cold War AK-47 is the most powerful sniper support in Warzone right now. With a little recoil control and a lot of mobility in your build, you can compete with SMGs up close and take on long-range AR builds at mid-range. No one is going to want to challenge you with a Cold War AK in your hands.

We even have a best AK-47 loadout page to help you kit it out!

The Swiss K31 Sniper Rifle in Call of Duty: Warzone

Swiss K31

Don’t let the Swiss K31’s small frame fool you; this is the highest-damaging Sniper Rifle in Warzone. It doesn’t quite have the bullet velocity for the most extreme ranges, but with great ADS speed and high chest damage, it doesn’t matter. If you’re playing at more standard ranges, moving around the map, the Swiss K31 is the best Sniper Rifle in Warzone.

Learn how to build this beast with our guide to the best Swiss K31 loadout!

A Kar98k loadout in Warzone

The Kar98k is the Swiss K31’s snappier cousin. While it’s classified as a Marksman Rifle, the Kar98k performs more like a quick-handling Sniper. Its lower chest damage makes it less forgiving than the Swiss, but that excellent ADS time makes it easier to fend off closer foes. Either weapon is an excellent choice for mobile sniping in Warzone.

Check out our guide on how to build the best Kar98k for Warzone to help with this one.

A PKM Warzone Loadout

The PKM has been pretty good for over a year but was rarely exceptional. After Season 4 Reloaded hit many other LMGs and long-range ARs with a nerf though, it’s very competitive in the meta. Out of the box, the PKM will give you low recoil, a huge magazine, and great time-to-kill at any range. If you want to lay down some serious fire on your enemies, the PKM is the gun for you.

Check out our PKM loadout build, and make the most of this killer LMG.

A Stoner 63 Loadout in Warzone

Stoner 63

LMGs sometimes struggle to fit into the Warzone meta. However, in Season 5 there has been such a long string of Assault Rifle nerfs that many LMGs are very competitive. The Stoner 63 is one of those. While the PKM might technically have better damage output, the Stoner is more flexible. Cold War guns can sneak in some mobility that Modern Warfare weapons can’t, and that makes for great comfort on an LMG. If you don’t mind trading recoil for quality of life, the Stoner is an excellent weapon. Even on a standard build, it is right there with the PKM.

Give our Stoner 63 loadout a glance for the best setup.

And there you have it! Hopefully now you're a master of the Warzone weapons arsenal, and you're ready to put your newfound knowledge to the test. We've got loadout guides for both the EM2 and Tec-9 to get you ready for Season 5. And if you haven't unlocked the OTs 9 yet for your S tier loadout, we've got a guide for that too.

Weapons warzone best

Call of Duty: Warzone is all about your loadout. It’s important to equip yourself with the best possible weapon to maximize your chances at success.

Weapons in Warzone can’t be customized, like in some other battle royales. What you pick up is what you use. Guns spawn with or without attachments and you use them from there.

There are dozens of weapon variants available in Call of Duty: Warzone and you’ll need to experiment with all of them to figure out what you like the best.

The best blueprint weapons in Warzone

Many of the weapons you’ll find in Warzone are blueprint variants. They’ll come in five different weapon rarities: Common (White), Uncommon (Green), Rare (Blue), Epic (Purple), and Legendary (Gold).

The weapon rarities are defined by how many attachments they have. Common weapons have none, Uncommon have one, Rare have two, Epic have three, and Legendary have five attachments.

This article will be updated with more blueprint weapons as they’re discovered in the game.

Loadout weapons are best

In the end, the best weapons you can use in Call of Duty: Warzone are the ones that you’ve created yourself using the Loadout tab. These are the same weapons you use in Modern Warfare’s multiplayer, if you own that game.

Head into the Loadout menu and start setting up a class that will suit you best in Warzone, like a class with Overkill, a sniper, and an assault rifle or submachine gun.

The possibilities for loadouts are nearly limitless. It’s up to you to choose a weapon you like the most, with attachments that suit your playstyle in Warzone, and get to work.

You’ll need a Loadout Drop to equip your Loadout in Warzone, though. These are found randomly on the map but are also bought at Buy Stations, so save up some cash and buy one as soon as you can.

Equipping a loadout will set you up with everything in that class, including perks, lethal equipment, and tactical equipment. They’re easily the best way to play Warzone.

Check out our guide on the best loadouts to make in Warzone before you drop back in and good luck getting those wins.
