Original equipment sizes are based on the best information currently available to us. Variations based on options or changes by the manufacturer may change the original equipment size on your vehicle. Please verify the size listed matches the tire size listed on your vehicle (usually found in the door jamb) or in the Owners Manual. Replacement of tires with a speed rating less than the original equipment tires may reduce performance and handling.
NOTE: We make every effort to ensure that the following search results are up-to-date and accurately presented. Some variables, including vehicle modifications, Plus Size fitments or search menu selection errors, may result in incorrect data.
If you have any questions regarding the correct product for your vehicle, please contact a Customer Service Advisor at your local store who will assist you in selecting the correct size.
NOTE: Winter driving presents special challenges for vehicle mobility. The use of winter tires while improving traction performance in snow and ice requires special care with regard to acceleration, braking, cornering and speed. It is important to drive with care, not only on snow and ice, but on dry and wet roads as well.
In winter driving conditions, vehicle control and safe operation under braking and cornering is especially dependent upon the rear tires. For this reason, winter tires are best applied to all wheel positions.
Some vehicles have specific recommendations regarding winter tires and their usage; always check and follow the vehicle tire placard and/or the vehicle owners manual.
- Winter tires are best applied to all wheel positions.
- If winter tires are applied to the front axle of any vehicle, they must also be installed on the rear. Do not apply winter tires to only the front axle this applies to all passenger cars, SUVs and light trucks, including front wheel drive, 4X4 and all-wheel drive vehicles.
- If winter tires are applied to the rear axle of any vehicle, it is recommended (but not required) that they be installed on the front axle.
- All winter tires applied should be the same speed rating. It is generally acceptable to apply winter tires with a lower speed rating than the Original Equipment/All Season tires for use in winter conditions; however, speed should be reduced accordingly. Vehicles should never exceed the top speed of the lowest speed-rated tire on the vehicle. Otherwise, tire failure could result.
- Winter tires operated in summer conditions may wear rapidly.
- Studded tires, where legally allowed, follow the same recommendations above.

Just looked at the door panel /70 R14'snot even the stock rims, got 15" rimsscotts90ranger said:
Do you know if the previous owner had the speedometer corrected? Do you have a GPS? How close is your speedometer? If they didn't have it corrected you are getting better mileage than you think you are, look on the door sticker and see the stock tire size, stick that in a tire height calculator along with your current tire size, divide your current tire size by the original tire size and multiply that by your fuel mileage to see what you are actually getting. You can also use that multiplier to figure out your actual speed, or actual mileage on your odometer.

The PO didn't change anythingguy didn't take care of it at all. I take care of my vehicles so other than slapping bigger rims and tires on his truckhe didn't change anything until it started "breaking"
Found an online calculator 97LowRanger was referring to

The /75 R15's were WAY too big for a 4 banger w/ the original rear end ratio

Even /70 R15's are pretty close too
Yupthe /70R15's look to be the cheapest option to go withXLTsplash said:
The /70R15 and the /60R15 will be close to the same over all diameter. So looking at the tires from the side they will look about the same. The and or how wide the tire is. The 60 and 70 are how tall the side wall is. So on the /70R15 the is the width, the side wall height is 70% of the width. The wide tire you go with, the taller the tire will be if you stay with the same series. Series = side wall % . If you don't want to change the gears in your rear end. Getting a tire that's as close to the factory tire diameter will be best for your L. The /70R15 will be cheaper, narrower and better for MPG. The /60R15 will be wider and be better handling because it gives you more rubber on the road. So it's a give and take.

A little thinner, a teeny bit smaller diameter .4% ain't nothing but if it will get me back up to the stated 21/24~ fuel economy (probably not as there are other problems with the vehicle but it will be closer than the 17~ MPG I'm getting now)
Thanks a TON for all your helpdefinitely saved me from really screwing up, the truck might not look as cool as with bigger tiresbut I wasn't going for the "cool" factor when I got itjust need a good truck that can do light GP work and commute at decent enough gas mileage (I really wish it was the L though and a 5 speedbut beggers can't be choosers) Heck..if I could find me another extended cab Dodge Dakota or better yet the crew cab oneI would be loving it, actually I wouldn't mind getting the new Nissan Frontier dieselthat is supposedly hitting the streets soon!
