What is an Air Handler?

The air handler is an essential part of your air conditioning and heating system that holds the fan. The fan distributes the heated and cooled air throughout your home.

There are three main types of heating and cooling systems in the Tucson area. The kind of system affects where your air handler is located.

• Split air conditioner and furnace:
• You have an outside air conditioning unit (likely on the ground outside your home). It also has a furnace inside your attic or a closet. The air handler is part of the furnace.
• Split heat pump:
  Split heat pumps are much the same as the first, but there is no furnace. Your outside unit handles both heating and cooling your home. But, there is still an air handler in your attic or closet. It distributes the heated and cooled air throughout your ducts.
• Packaged (rooftop) air conditioning and heating:
  In this situation, the air handler is packaged with the outdoor unit into one piece.

Goodman AC Age

Goodman Air Conditioners and heat pumps will always have the first two numbers of the serial number as the year of manufacture.

Month of Manufacture

You could tell the month of manufacture as well from the serial number by the next two numbers. This month would be 09, meaning the ninth month of the year, or September.

This Goodman AC was manufactured in September of 2014.

Goodman Air Handler Age

The same rules apply on Goodman Air Handlers as AC’s and Heat Pumps. The first two digits is the year of manufacture.

The Goodman ARUF25B14 air handler is rated for up to 2 tons. In some packages, the air handler will be slightly larger in tonnage than the condenser in the package. This is intentional, as it maintains the overall efficiency of the entire system. From the factory, the unit does need an outdoor unit to function as an AC or heat pump air handler, however it can use an electric heat kit and acts as a straight electric heating unit when the kit field installed.

Warranty

The ARUF25B14 comes with Goodman’s standard 10 year parts warranty when registered online through the manufacturer. Please note that in order for the warranty to be upheld, the installation must be compliant to all related local and state codes, as well as the unit must be paired with an approved condenser.

The ARUF25B14 air handler is factory-sealed, making it compliant out of the box with 2001 Florida Building Code compliant and decreasing air leakage, increasing efficiency and saving the air to heat or cool your home and providing a peace of mind that the reliability of the unit will heat or cool your home whenever you need it to. Moreover, the ARUF25B14 has a sub-structure that increases overall unit stability, and its cabinet is durable in construction to protect your new investment.
