HOW TO REPLACE A KITCHEN SINK SPRAYER - THE SPRUCE

From thespruce.com
Estimated Reading Time 4 mins
  • Check for Compatibility. If your faucet doesn't currently have a secondary sprayer, check the configuration of the sink to make sure that there is an available mounting hole for the sprayer.
  • Shut off the Water. Shut off the water to the faucet, either at water supply shut-off valves beneath the sink or at the main water shut-off valve for the house.
  • Remove Sprayer Flex Line. Remove the sprayer flex line from the faucet body from underneath the sink. There should be a copper tube coming down from the faucet body that has a brass nipple on it where the sprayer hose is attached.
  • Remove Old Sprayer Housing. Remove the old sprayer housing (if necessary) by unscrewing the mounting nut from under the sink with a pair of pliers or a basin wrench.
  • Install New Sprayer Housing. Install the new sprayer housing by inserting the tailpiece through the hole in the sink deck. The housing should have a gasket of some type around the base.
  • Tighten Mounting Nut. Tighten the mounting nut onto the sprayer housing tailpiece from under the sink, using either a basin wrench or channel-type pliers.
  • Position New Sprayer Hose. Thread the new sprayer hose down through the housing so it is all the way in and ready for the connection. Before you connect the hose to the faucet, make sure it is in a position that will allow you to extend it easily without tangling.
  • Connect Sprayer Hose and Faucet Body. From under the sink, attach the threaded fitting on the end of the sprayer hose onto the diverter nipple extending from the side of the faucet body.
  • Turn Water On. With everything tight, turn the water back on and check the sprayer for leaks. Run hot water through the sprayer to soften the tubing and allow it to go up and down easier.

Junk

Product worked for about 5 days. Then it started making a whining noise and wouldn't spray with any pressure. Total junk. Unfortunately for me I went away on vacation for a few weeks and installed it weeks after I got back, so my return window closed. Buy better quality than this. I know I will

August 14,

Great sprayer, once installed!

So, this sprayer specifically states that it is made for Morn faucets, this is only partically true. This sprayer comes with the spray nozzle and hose preinstalled, but you have to install the quick connect fitting, which is where the problems arise. The fitting is a standard fitting with 6 flats to install the fitting onto the end of the hose with a wrench, however, at least on my faucet, the fitting was too large at the flats. So I had to file the flats off and bring the diameter down to about " so that it would fitting into the quick connect fitting on the faucet. Then, I realized that the white quick connect fitting was still too small so I made multiple short snips around the outside to open up the receiving diameter. So in short, be warned, modification maybe required to make this fit, but once it does, this is a great sprayer!

Close replacement product

Bought to replace similar oil-rubbed bronze sprayer that built up sediment in spite of always having had a softener. It installed quickly on my Delta Kitchen faucet and didn't need the hose that came with it. So overpaid a little. No real extra features as it's just a sprayer and color only matched about 80 percent.

Moen adapter does not work

I was excited to save money by not purchasing the Moen brand. However, the adapter included for Moen does not allow the fitting to snap in to the Moen faucet due to brass nut being to large. Now it’s all junk.

Mine fit.

Despite my reservations from all the reviews that say it doesn't fit, I must have a special fitting or something, because mine fit without any modifications. The sprayer is nice, the hose seems to be of good quality, and it sprays water. I guess that's what I was hoping for.

Replacement nozzle moen spray

How to Replace a Leaky Sprayer on a Moen Kitchen Faucet

By Robert Ferguson

A leaking spray nozzle does not require you to replace the kitchen faucet.

Kitchen faucet sprayers offer added convenience to any kitchen sink. The sprayers attach to a water supply outlet on the faucet body underneath the sink. Because of excessive use as well as hard-water mineral deposits, the sprayer end can develop a leak or become clogged, causing significant pressure loss. Most faucet sprayers connect to the faucet in the same fashion, no matter its brand name. Unfortunately, some models require replacing the entire assembly, including the hose. When you purchase a new sprayer, it will include a new escutcheon, or sprayer base, that attaches to the sink.

Sprayer Nozzle and Hose Replacement

Turn off the water supplying the Moen kitchen faucet at the shutoff valve underneath the sink.

Place an adjustable wrench on the flat part of the threaded nipple of the water supply line that connects to the flexible hose of the sprayer nozzle. This is necessary to keep the water supply line from twisting. This connection is underneath the sink on the faucet body.

Loosen the nut on the flexible sprayer supply hose by turning it counterclockwise, using a pair of adjustable pliers to disconnect the hose.

Pull the sprayer out of the escutcheon from the top side of the sink. Remove the old escutcheon or sprayer base by loosening its retaining nut located underneath the sink with your hand or the adjustable pliers.

Assemble the new sprayer nozzle and hose according to manufacturer's instructions.

Install the new escutcheon or sprayer base by inserting it into its mounting hole and securing it from underneath the sink with a retaining nut.

Guide the end of the sprayer hose through the escutcheon or base so the end of the hose is underneath the sink.

Thread the end of the sprayer hose onto the water supply line located on the faucet body until it is snug. Tighten the connection an additional half turn using adjustable pliers. Remember to use the adjustable wrench to keep the water supply line on the faucet from twisting, which could cause significant damage to the faucet.

Turn on the shutoff valve to restore water to the faucet, and check for leaks.

Sprayer Nozzle Replacement

Turn off the water supplying the faucet at the shutoff valve underneath the sink.

Pull the sprayer nozzle out and away from the sink.

Hold the sprayer nozzle with your hand while simultaneously turning the retaining nut at the base of the sprayer nozzle counterclockwise to loosen and remove the sprayer nozzle body. Place a rag on the sprayer nozzle retaining nut to avoid damage to the nut if you have to use pliers to loosen it.

Insert a new rubber washer in the sprayer nozzle retaining nut on the hose.

Thread the nut onto the new sprayer nozzle and tighten it until it is snug, plus an additional quarter turn.

Test the sprayer nozzle for leaks.

References

Tips

  • Place the stopper or a rag in the sink drain to avoid loosing small parts.
  • Newspaper placed underneath plumbing connections helps identify leaks.

Warnings

  • Although it is not necessary to turn off the shutoff valve supplying the faucet to replace a sprayer, it helps to prevent a mess if the faucet inadvertently is turned on.
