Top-500 Fantasy Baseball Dynasty Rankings: October 2021

Fantasy Baseball Dynasty Rankings

Dynasty leagues are a 24/7/365 time investment. Okay, that might be a slight exaggeration, but improvements can be made at any time of the year. Whether that’s via trade, drafts, or working the waiver wire, the goal of these Fantasy Baseball Dynasty Rankings is to assist you in whatever move you might be looking to make. It’s never a bad time to upgrade your team.

The below rankings take many factors into consideration. Age, current performance, projected future performance, health/durability, ceiling, floor, proximity to the Majors (for prospects), credit score, etc, are all factored in. Okay, maybe not the last one, but you get my point. A lot goes into these rankings.

And lastly, a reminder. Every league is different. There are my base rankings to go off of and should be adjusted accordingly to gel with your league rules and your team strategy. Some leagues value prospects more heavily than others or have OBP as a category instead of AVG. The list goes on and on. Whatever your league format/style is, take these rankings, adjust accordingly, and go from there.

If you aren’t playing your dynasty leagues on Fantrax, you’re missing out on the deepest player pool and most customization around.

For more rankings, check out Eric’s Top-400 Prospect Rankings or Chris Clegg’s Top-500 OBP Dynasty Rankings, and make sure to check out the Fantrax Toolshed Podcast for more dynasty talk!

Dynasty Quarterback Rankings

1. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes

Patrick Mahomes has well-earned the top spot in this QB dynasty ranking. As a fourth-year as starter and putting up phenomenal stats along the way, Mahomes is a dynasty QB who should be selected first for years to come.

2. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills

Josh Allen really broke out in 2020 after compiling nearly 5,000 total yards. He will remain a coveted fantasy quarterback for this season and in dynasty leagues, so secure him while he is hot with a long, bright future ahead.

3. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys

fantasy football dynasty rankings

Dak Prescott‘s dynasty QB value has skyrocketed since a healthy return to the field. Comfy with an offense and scheme he knows like the back of his hand, Prescott is a fantasy keeper who should remain scoring big points each game.

4. Deshaun Watson, Houston Texans

Fantasy football dynasty rankings: Deshaun Watson

Update:Deshaun Watson is being accused by over 20 women of sexual assault and sexual misconduct in civil cases. No criminal charges have been filed against the reigning NFL passing champion. The situation is still ongoing. We will refrain from analyzing Watson in these rankings until more information comes out on the troubling allegations.

As of this time, Watson has reported to training camp. However, he’s expected to be inactive on a weekly basis. Watson remains an avoid in dynasty drafts.

5. Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals

Kyler Murray is a dependable fantasy QB1 who can do any defense dirty through the air or on the ground. For this, he will remain a reliable, dual-threat quarterback to headline your roster in dynasty fantasy leagues for multiple seasons to come.

6. Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers

Justin Herbert dazzled brightly in his 2020 rookie debut, earning offensive rookie of the year honors. Now, he is rocking his sophomore year as one of the best young fantasy quarterbacks out there. This is just the beginning for Herbert who is both an NFL star and dynasty keeper in the making.

7. Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals

Put Joe Burrow’s injury-rookie season in the past and focus on a star player who is evolving into a reliable QB to build your dynasty team around.

8. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens

Lamar Jacksonnever ceases to amaze and is going to continue piling up fantasy points with his dual-threat efforts. He’s fast on foot and his combined efforts of making defenses look silly should be a thing for years to come.

9. Baker Mayfield, Cleveland Browns

Fantasy football dynasty rankings: Baker Mayfield

Surrounded by a talented cast, look for Baker Mayfield to continue to thrive, coming fresh off of a respectable 2020 playoff campaign. This is much improved from his previous seasons.

10. Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars

Patience will be key for this spectacular Clemson standout, Trevor Lawrence. He eventually will be one of the best fantasy football keepers for years to come. It won’t matter who he is slinging the pigskin to.

11. Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins

Those who have Tua Tagovailoa rostered, have a rising fantasy keeper on their hands. Joined by his former Alabama receiver Jaylen Waddle and other key playmakers, Tagovailoa (when healthy) will develop into a dependable fantasy QB who can help you win.

12. Zach Wilson, New York Jets

NFL: New York Jets at Green Bay Packers

As expected, the Jets selected their new face of the franchise, Zach Wilson. He’s a mobile threat and a guy who will steadily rack up fantasy points in both passing and running as a dynasty QB who should have a very long shelf life.

13. Sam Darnold, Carolina Panthers

NFL: Baltimore Ravens at Carolina Panthers

Keep in mind that Sam Darnold is only 24-years-old. Surrounded by a new coach, staff, and team, Darnold comes with much future dynasty appeal and is evolving as a top dual-threat fantasy QB.

14. Trey Lance, San Francisco 49ers

NFL: Las Vegas Raiders at San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers traded a big bounty to draft their mobile quarterback for years to come. While this future dynasty stud may take some time to evolve, it is only a matter of time before Trey Lance will be the focal point of your fantasy team.

15. Justin Fields, Chicago Bears

NFL: Buffalo Bills at Chicago Bears

Chicago made its move and traded up to get the mobile Justin Fields. Now that Fields has been announced as the Bears starter, a new chapter as a keeper dynasty QB has begun for him. This young rookie QB has a fresh NFL career ahead.

16. Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles

Jalen Hurts

Jalen Hurts is a double-edged sword, who will score fantasy points both in passing and running. Playing with first-round pick and Heisman-winning DeVonta Smith should only help enhance Hurts’ fantasy stats down the road.

17. Mac Jones, New England Patriots

New England Patriots' Josh McDaniels reveals why Mac Jones was named starting QB

The Patriots didn’t have to do anything but wait for Mac Jones to fall right into their laps on draft night. Jones is a traditional passing quarterback who will provide stability in the passing game, which equals solid fantasy production we can count on.

18. Kyle Trask, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

NFL: Tennessee Titans at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Trask is a QB to grab now and hold for later. Tom Bradywon’t play forever, and the Bucs were prudent to snag this Florida quarterback 64th overall in the draft. Time will tell as it pertains to Trask being dynasty material.

Dynasty Running Back Rankings:

1. Dalvin Cook, Minnesota Vikings

Cook entered 2021 with nearly 5,000 total yards on record. Wow! In dynasty, he offers a high-reward/high-risk price tag as a fantasy RB who has yet to play a full 16-game slate.

2. Nick Chubb, Cleveland Browns

Chubb is a stud. He’s a 25-year-old RB who should produce at a high level for at least another handful of seasons. Even while splitting the backfield with Kareem Hunt, Chubb is the focal point.

3. Jonathan Taylor, Indianapolis Colts

NFL players: Jonathan Taylor, Indianapolis Colts

As a rookie, Taylor impressed. He’s now evolving into a dependable RB1 who will be a top dynasty target for the foreseeable future.

4. Alvin Kamara, New Orleans Saints

Alvin Kamara reportedly COVID-19 positive, playoff status in doubt for New Orleans Saints star

Kamara is one of the best pass-catching PPR dynasty running backs in the business. He’s a keeper no matter who is slinging him the ball come game day. Right now, that is Jameis Winston.

5. Derrick Henry, Tennessee Titans

NFL top 100 players: Derrick Henry

Henry has been one of the best fantasy football players for those who have rostered him in dynasty the past three seasons. Will he surpass 2,000 yards again this season? The potential is there. However, this ankle breaker is 27, so ride him while he’s hot!

6. Christian McCaffrey, Carolina Panthers

fantasy football dynasty rankings

CMC is back and is easily a PPR machine (when he is healthy). However, keep in mind the mileage McCaffrey has built up since he was drafted in 2017.

7. Saquon Barkley, New York Giants

5 bold predictions for the New York Giants' 2021 season

Barkley is a top fantasy RB also when he’s healthy. At only 24, Barkley has a long fantasy career ahead if he can stay on the field. In PPR formats when Barkley is at his best, he’s fantasy gold.

8. Ezekiel Elliott, Dallas Cowboys

Elliott is only 26-years-old. However, he averaged a massive 117.5 total yards per game over his first five seasons playing. So roll with him while he’s in his prime and playing for one of the most productive offenses in the NFL.

9. Najee Harris, Pittsburgh Steelers

NFL: Detroit Lions at Pittsburgh Steelers

Najee Harris is a three-down RB on a productive offense. Coming in at a stately 6-foot-2 and 230 pounds, this rookie RB has a bright career ahead with his blend of power, ball-carrier vision, and ability to take it to the house from anywhere on the field.

10. J.K. Dobbins, Baltimore Ravens

Adding Todd Gurley would help Ravens RB J.K. Dobbins

Dobbins is done for 2021 (ACL tear) so, he either belongs on IR if currently rostered or will be a lower-round target in start-up dynasty leagues looking ahead to the 2022 NFL season.

11. Cam Akers, Los Angeles Rams

Unfortunately, Akers suffered a torn Achilles in the preseason which will force him to miss substantial time in 2021. The hope would be that he returns to RB1 status next season after showing much promise as a rookie in 2020.

12. Aaron Jones, Green Bay Packers

Aaron Jones contract, Green Bay Packers

Jones should continue to thrive on a well-balanced offense that won’t run him into the ground but will allow enough touches that he remains an RB1-2 on a weekly basis. Only 26, Jones should be a reliable dynasty fantasy staple moving forward.

13. Antonio Gibson, Washington Football Team

NFL injury report

More stability at QB in Washington in the future should help Gibson evolve. For now, he is talented enough to headline all dynasty rosters as a top fantasy RB.

14. David Montgomery, Chicago Bears

At the young age of 23, Montgomery continues to improve as a dynasty RB. As such, he will remain the workhorse on Chicago’s run-first offense — when he’s healthy.

15. D’Andre Swift, Detroit Lions

Fantasy football dynasty rankings: D'Andre Swift

With a promising career ahead, Swift (if healthy) is worthy of a spot on dynasty rosters, especially in PPR leagues.

16. Joe Mixon, Cincinnati Bengals

Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon

Fantasy enthusiasts have at times, been frustrated with Mixon. But, keep in mind, Mixon is only 25. Now playing healthy, he should receive his opportunities to run the ball way more efficiently.

17. Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Kansas City Chiefs

Chiefs news

CEH was a huge bust as a projected top fantasy RB in 2020. But when healthy, CEH is a dynasty RB keeper who plays on one of the highest-producing offenses in the NFL. Let’s hope he retains his value once he returns from his latest injury.

18. Josh Jacobs, Las Vegas Raiders

Raiders news: Josh Jacobs arrested for DUI

Those who roster Jacobs need to be patient. While Jacobs is hampered somewhat by a pass-heavy offense, think long-term dynasty value. He is a mere 23 and after two years, he becomes a free agent.

19. Miles Sanders, Philadelphia Eagles

Eagles RB Miles Sanders runs the ball against the Ravens NFL Week 7

Sanders hasn’t exactly lived up to fantasy expectations. But, he has the ability to produce RB1 numbers in any given week. We believe the talent is there.

20. Travis Etienne, Jacksonville Jaguars

NFL: Jacksonville Jaguars at New Orleans Saints

Despite sustaining a foot injury that will keep Etienne sidelined for an undetermined period of time, this former Clemson stud RB should be rostered across the board in dynasty leagues. Once he returns to health (later this season or in 2022), Etienne will eventually take on the more dominant role, likely surpassing James Robinson.

21. Javonte Williams, Denver Broncos

NFL: Denver Broncos OTA

The Broncos went out of their way to trade up to snag Williams, who should carve out a role from the start. Eventually, he will oust Melvin Gordon out of his starting gig while the veteran running back continues to plays on borrowed time.

22. Elijiah Mitchell, San Francisco 49ers

Mitchell is worth rostering in dynasty formats because the 49ers’ RBs simply cannot stay healthy. However, those who roster Mitchell must expect a timeshare of some sort come game day.

24. Trey Sermon, San Francisco 49ers

NFL: Kansas City Chiefs at San Francisco 49ers

SF moved up to draft Ohio State standout, Trey Sermon. He should be the primary 49ers RB that dynasty drafters need to target for the future. However, the aforementioned Mitchell is in the picture as well.

25. Michael Carter, New York Jets

Carter is a rookie RB worthy of being rostered throughout dynasty leagues. While he sits buried behind Tevin Coleman and Lamical Perine, Carter should easily rise up the ranks as his NFL career unfolds.

Dynasty wide receiver rankings

1. Stefon Diggs, Buffalo Bills

Fantasy football rankings: Wide receivers

Diggs is in his prime and at 27, he should still have some phenomenal years ahead of him as he headlines your dynasty roster. Right now, he and QB Josh Allen are currently the hottest QB/WR fantasy duo in the league.

2. Tyreek Hill, Kansas City Chiefs

fantasy football dynasty rankings: Tyreek Hill

Hill’s feats never cease to amaze. He’s coming off a career-best 15-touchdown season and he plays with the No. 1 quarterback in our fantasy football dynasty rankings. What could be any more ideal?

3. Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Vikings

Justin Jefferson

Jefferson had a fabulous rookie season, and now he is looking for an encore. Do what you can to secure him to your fantasy roster for the long haul.

4. DK Metcalf, Seattle Seahawks

Seahawks vs Colts, DK Metcalf

Metcalf is worth a big spend in dynasty football. He’s established himself as Russell Wilson’s No. 1 target and he’ll continue to make those amazing big plays that often earn fantasy bonus points.

5. Calvin Ridley, Atlanta Falcons

fantasy football dynasty rankings

Ridley is now the top dog Falcons WR to roster. Even with the versatile TE Kyle Pitts entering the scene, Ridley should retain his dynasty value. He is that talented.

6. CeeDee Lamb, Dallas Cowboys

fantasy football dynasty rankings

Clicking on a high-scoring Cowboys offense, Lamb’s stock in fantasy football dynasty rankings is going through the roof.

7. A.J. Brown, Tennessee Titans

At 24, Brown has a bright career ahead and is one of the most consistent WRs in fantasy. Now we can hopefully look for Brown’s targets to increase with defenses circling in on Julio Jones.

Dallas Cowboys draft picks: Top options in a strong class, ideal 2021 NFL Draft targets

8. Diontae Johnson, Pittsburgh Steelers

Johnson led the Steelers’ WRs with 144 targets in 2020. And, he seems to be the most consistent of the Steelers WR corps thus far, making him a handy dynasty asset moving forward.

Pittsburgh Steelers Related: QB Ben Roethlisberger: ‘I need to be better’

9. Courtland Sutton, Denver Broncos

fantasy football dynasty rankings

Sutton looks remarkable in his third year and he is definitely a dynasty WR who can shred a defense in any given game.

10. D.J. Moore, Carolina Panthers

Showcasing tons of upside, and only 23-years-old, Moore is worth rostering in all dynasty formats. Playing with Sam Darnold, who’s got a cannon of an arm, only helps.

11. Ja’Marr Chase, Cincinnati Bengals

fantasy football dynasty rankings

A tight LSU chemistry with QB Joe Burrow makes Chase a fantasy football keeper for seasons to come.

12. Tee Higgins, Cincinnati Bengals

Look for Higgins to benefit from the presence of the aforementioned Ja’marr Chase, who could be drawing double coverage from defenses. Higgins will only improve over time.

13. Devonta Smith, Philadelphia Eagles

2021 NFL mock draft: 2021 NFL Draft

This 2020 Heisman winner looks sharp on the NFL gamedays, and he already appears to be Jalen Hurts‘ go-to guy downfield more often than not.

14. Terry McLaurin, Washington Football Team

fantasy football dynasty rankings

McLaurin has a promising NFL career ahead, after averaging over 1,000 yards in his first two seasons. A star in the making, McLaurin’s fantasy ceiling is high.

15. Jerry Jeudy, Denver Broncos

fantasy football dynasty rankings: Jerry Jeudy

Sidelined for the short term with an ankle injury, Jeudy’s long-term value should only increase. More stability at the quarterback position with Teddy Bridgewater present should only help.

16. Elijah Moore, New York Jets

Get to know this rookie protege who is the Jets WR to roster in dynasty. We can’t wait to see how Moore’s career plays out with his new rookie QB, Zach Wilson slinging the ball to him.

17. Jaylen Waddle, Miami Dolphins

Miami Dolphins: Jaylen Waddle

Waddle led the SEC for his jaw-dropping 21.1 yards he averaged per reception. Big catches such as these equate to big fantasy rewards. With that said, Waddle should benefit from playing with his former Crimson Tide QB Tua Tagovailoa.

18. Rashod Bateman, Baltimore Ravens

Bateman and Lamar Jackson should make for a sweet WR/QB stack in dynasty leagues many seasons to come. We just need for Bateman to return from recovering from groin surgery.

19. D.J. Chark, Jacksonville Jaguars

Unfortunately, Chark sustained a fractured ankle and his 2021 season is likely over. However, Chark is only 24 and when he returns to the field, he will have a promising career working with a young Trevor Lawrence, who will only become more polished over time.

20. Kadarius Toney, New York Giants

Don’t be hesitant to add Toney to your dynasty rosters if you have an extra slot. The Giants spent a first-round pick to get Daniel Jones an upgrade at WR. Let’s hope for the best!

Dynasty tight end rankings

1. George Kittle, San Francisco 49ers

fantasy football dynasty rankings: tight end: George Kittle

At 27 and coming from an injury year, Kittle barely made our cut as a “young star” to build a dynasty team around. But with the TE position so thin in general, get Kittle on your dynasty rosters while the going is hot.

2. Kyle Pitts, Atlanta Falcons

2021 NFL mock draft: Atlanta Falcons: 2021 NFL Draft

Selected fourth overall by the Atlanta Falcons, Pitts has a brilliant NFL career ahead. He was the most-coveted rookie tight end targeted in startup dynasty fantasy football for the 2021 NFL season, so watch out!

3. Mark Andrews, Baltimore Ravens

Baltimore ravens, Mark Andrews contract

We still love Andrews, and No. 3 seems right for him. He’s a valuable fantasy producer on a Ravens offense that has a hard time keeping the WRs healthy. Let’s hope that Lamar Jackson remains to keep Andrews heavily involved.

4. Jonnu Smith, New England Patriots

Now that Smith is with the Patriots we hope to see him take on a big role in the passing game. Never mind that Hunter Henry is also a Patriot. Smith is the focus in dynasty leagues, being the younger of the two TEs with less wear and tear to his body.

5. Noah Fant, Denver Broncos

Fant’s progressing well and is worthy of a dynasty slot at TE on any roster. In any given week, he will reward top fantasy points as a guy who draws plenty of targets per game.

6. Pat Freiermuth, Pittsburgh Steelers

When crafting your fantasy dynasty rosters, keep Freiermuth in mind in the later rounds. Many describe him as a future “Baby Gronk.” At 6-foot-5 and 251 pounds, Freiermuth provides youth behind veteran TE, Eric Ebron.

7. Robert Tonyan, Green Bay Packers

Underrated NFL players: Robert Tonyan, Packers

Aaron Rodgers returned to Green Bay which only solidified rostering Tonyan, who had a breakout 2020 fantasy season when he found the end zone 11 times. Fingers crossed that Tonyan keeps those end zone trips plentiful.

8. Irv Smith, Minnesota Vikings

Those who roster Smith will have to wait until next season to take advantage of Smith’s pass-catching talent on the field. Smith is likely done for 2021 having had to undergo meniscus surgery. When healthy, look for him to rebound.

9. Noah Gray, Kansas City Chiefs

This guy is a sleeper and one who can be deeply rostered in dynasty leagues if your space allows. He is an heir apparent to Travis Kelce who is 31 and fully playing at his prime. With that said, the Chiefs will want to keep Kelce in good condition. So, Gray may just see a little action on offense, while they attempt to keep opposing defenses on their toes.

10. Tre’ McKitty, Los Angeles Chargers

McKitty landed with an exciting offense headlined by the youthful Justin Herbert. For now, McKitty is a TE to draft and hold until his name is called. He’ll sit behind veteran Jared Cook who isn’t exactly a spring chicken.
