Best Minecraft Castle Ideas

1. Classic Starter Castle

YouTube creator Mr. Smoose promises that this castle is going to be one of “the easiest and best-looking bases” that you can build in Minecraft Survival mode. As it’s a simple castle with a straightforward design and classic silhouette, we highly recommend following this tutorial first if you’ve never tried building a castle before.

It uses minimal resources, too! So you don’t have to worry about going too crazy with the farming and the sourcing. At the end of this22-minute tutorial, you’ll have a pretty darn gorgeous four-tower castle you can claim as your own.

2. Small Castle

Who says Minecraft castles have to be big and sprawling to be beautiful? Certainly not Balzy, a YouTuber who built this beautiful 11×13 medieval castle. It’s fully stocked and fully usable, too! It’s got barracks, a horse stable, an armory, plenty of storage, a blacksmith area, and much, much more. This is one of those builds where you have to see it to believe it, so do make sure tocheck it out here.

The tutorial is clean, straightforward, and set to very relaxing background music. Trust us; if you enjoy smaller builds with minimalist styles, this one’s a must-try.

3. Medieval Castle

minecraft castle

A medieval-style castle is a timeless classic that works well in any sort of setting, region, or weather. You can build it on a cliff overlooking the village or on a mountaintop, secluded from the rest of the world. It’ll still look impressively imposing. And speaking of, those two words also perfectly describethis beautiful medieval Minecraft castle design by BlueNerd Minecraft. If you want to make something like this, prepare to invest quite a bit of time, effort, and resources.

Building this will be no easy feat! But will it be worth it?

Absolutely. Here is the guide.

4. Gothic Castle

Continuing the theme of “classic, impressive, and imposing,” we have this spine-tingling, mist-shroudedgothic-style castle by YouTube creator Geet Builds. This is the secluded, mountaintop castle of your dreams. It’s large, it’s unnecessarily complicated, and it looks incredibly intimidating even from far away.

If you want something that screams “don’t mess with me,” this is the castle to build. You don’t necessarily have to put it on top of a mountain overlooking a valley, but the location certainly adds to the effect.

5. Pink Castle

pink castle

Maybe intimidating isn’t your style. Maybe you’d much prefer a Minecraft castle that’s warm, friendly, and inviting. If that’s the case, YouTuber MY MINECRAFT HOUSE has got something that perfectly fits the bill.

Fair warning, though; it’s pretty far from the classic castle designs we’ve been showing thus far.

There’s no denying that this very pink (but also very pretty) Barbie-Dream-House-esque castle is one-of-a-kind. It’s also cute, eye-catching, and disarmingly charming. If you want to amuse your friends and confuse your enemies, why not givethis beautiful pink castle a whirl?

Unusual color aside, the silhouette and general structure is actually quite beginner-friendly! The secret to making it stand out is a bit of creativity, a handful of patience, and a lot of pink dye.

6. Japanese Castle

If a pink castle isn’t really your vibe but you still want something unique and eye-catching, why not orchestrate a little east-meets-west situation? Classy Kiwi Gaming hasthis amazingly detailed tutorial for creating what is honestly one of the most beautiful Minecraft castles we’ve seen so far; a tall, elegant, multi-storied Japanese castle standing proudly in an open field, surrounded by luscious green grass and delicate pink cherry blossom trees.

It’s a scene straight out of an old masterpiece painting.

P.S. If you want to really enhance the colors and textures of your Japanese castle, we recommend installing some awesome Minecraft skins or texture packs for the aesthetic. Trust us; you won’t be disappointed!)

7. Haunted Castle

Take the intimidation factor up a notch withthis masterfully designed haunted castle by YouTuber A1MOSTADDICTED MINECRAFT. The video is actually a speed-build – instead of a full, step-by-step tutorial – shot mostly from bird’s eye view, so it might be a bit difficult to follow along. The good news is that you can always slow down the footage to make educated guesses about the materials, resources, and dimensions.

This one’s definitely a build for more experienced and/or advanced Minecraft builders, so we’d recommend practicing different castles (and other larger structures) a bunch of times before attempting this.

8. Steampunk Castle

minecraft castle

Unlike the other items on the list, this Steampunk castle doesn’t have a step-by-step tutorial – or even a speed-build! Instead, you can download the entire castle as an individual Minecraft world usingthis link. Created entirely by users kgeri488 and dimarson011, this sharp, industrialized castle apparently hides plenty of secrets, Easter eggs, and even a hidden narrative for you to discover!

But if you don’t feel like downloading this exact castle, you can always use the picture as a reference for your own steampunk architecture.

By the way, the creators apparently used Sonic Ether’s Unbelievable Shaders mod to take this gorgeous photo. Check out other awesomeMinecraft shadershere!

9. Castle w/ Gladiator Arena

Keep your warriors trained – and your citizens entertained – with a full-fledged gladiator arena! This awesomedownloadable Minecraft castle lets you indulge the more battle-happy soldiers of your militia with dedicated royal battlegrounds. So long as your citizens don’t mind a friendly little duel (not necessarily to the death), there shouldn’t be any problems.

Recommended Articles:

Just like the previous item on this list, this isn’t a tutorial or speed-build. It’s another individual world – created by Mateo – that you can download and install for your own Minecraft game. Bonus goodies include an airship, a ship harbor, a pond, a lighthouse, and much, much more!

10. Cinderella Castle

minecraft castle

For the more romantic players out there, here’s a castle straight out of a faerie tale—literally! YouTuber Sjin walks us through a quick build of their jaw-droppingly gorgeous Minecraft recreation ofCinderella’s Castle.

Even if you’re not a big fan of the story oryou think Ms. Glass Slipper has no place in your Minecraft world, just take a look at the thumbnail. The castle is crazy accurate, the silhouette is equal parts magical and intimidating, and the attention to detail is just out of this world!

You don’t have to follow this castle as-is, but we definitely recommend taking some elements as inspiration. This castle is just that good!

11. Disney Castle

Here’s another castle straight from our childhood! SmallishBeans’ MinecraftDisney Castle shares some things in common with Sjin’sCinderella Castle. As expected, of course, considering they’re drawing inspiration from the same source material. However, this is an excellent example of how two artists can have two totally different takes on the same thing.

We’d say this castle is more stylized and straightforward compared to the previous Cinderella Castle. It’s also blockier, wider, and not as crazy detailed. But there’s no denying that both are incredibly magical, and whichever you choose to follow is entirely a matter of personal choice.

12. Castle Carved in Mountain

All credits for thisMinecraft castle idea go to Reddit user TofuNoodles. They posted this castle carved right into the mountain. Yep, you read that right! Not on the mountain or beside the mountain, no. They designed the castle so that it looks like it was carved out of the mountain’s stone face. It’s a pretty sweet idea, and we’ve got to agree with the comments: the use of natural terrain really adds character to an otherwise generic-looking build.

TofuNoodles original post is a feedback post rather than a tutorial, but you can definitely use the photo and/or concept for reference!

13. Golden Castle (Rumpelstiltskin’s Palace)

This isn’t Disney, but it is every bit as iconic as Cinderella’s abode. Dreamwork’s Shrek franchise has immortalized itself as one of the most meme-able movies of the 2000s. There isn’t a person alive who doesn’t know that lovable, foul-tempered, green-skinned swamp ogre. As such, all the characters in the Shrek universe are pretty well-known, too. Donkey, Puss in Boots, and Princess Fiona, to name a few.

If you’re familiar with Rumpelstiltskin (the Shrek version, anyway), then you probably recognize his fancy golden castle by the water. Even if you don’t, you’ve got to admit; it’s a really cool build. Check out these photos onminecraft.net for inspiration!

14. Hogwarts Castle

Here’s anothericonic pop culture castle that most fantasy geeks would probably recognize; the illustrious wizarding school of Hogwarts, from the Harry Potter series. YouTuber SmallishBeans (yep, same one who did the Disney Castle build!) perfectly captures the magical, whimsical, asymmetrical architecture of Harry Potter’s beloved alma mater. We especially love the little details they included, like the random unexplainable turrets and the floors that just suddenly jut out. It’s a very loyal representation of the source material, and we personally think the 40+ hours they took to build this whole castle was worth it!

15. Falcon’s Rock

We’re ending this list with another downloadable Minecraft map for you to reference and/or enjoy! Created by Studio Winthor, this Falcon’s Rock map promises to be the “biggest and most realistic medieval map of Germany.” There are 9 (yes, nine) castles with European-style architecture for you to discover, alongside one huge medieval city, 7 villages, a monastery, and plenty more architectural surprises!

It’s a pretty huge project, all things considered, and we think Studio Winthor did an amazing job—especially with all the details!

There you go! 15 awesome Minecraft castle ideas for you to draw inspiration from. Allow us to recount them here:

  1. Classic Starter Castle
  2. Small Castle
  3. Medieval Castle
  4. Gothic Castle
  5. Pink Castle
  6. Japanese Castle
  7. Haunted Castle
  8. Steampunk Castle
  9. Castle w/ Gladiator Arena
  10. Cinderella Castle
  11. Disney Castle
  12. Castle Carved in Mountain
  13. Golden Castle
  14. Hogwarts Castle
  15. Falcon’s Rock

Sometimes, ye olde 3-story mansion isn’t enough, you know? Sometimes you just really want to give your Minecraft avatar the royal treatment. Whether that comes in the form of a mini fortress or a tall Japanese castle, the time and resources you sink into building it will be worth it.

Disney Castle built in Minecraft

Disney castle

You know the story. You cosy up on the sofa, get your warmest, comfiest blanket, and stick on your favourite Disney movie. Whether you prefer Tangled, Mulan, or Moana is a conversation for another time (Moana is best). One thing they all have in common is the intro cinematic that showcases the classic Disney castle.

Although it was first made famous in Cinderella, the castle has become ingrained in Disney culture and is instantly iconic. There are dozens of Disney castle tutorials out there, but by far the most impressive one we've seen so far is YouTuber "SmallishBeans" take on the Disney Castle. It's insanely detailed, so why not sit back, relax, stick on your favourite Disney soundtrack, and take a look?

Arendelle Castle from Frozen built in Minecraft

Arendelle castle

Of course, no modern Disney film has gripped the world quite like Frozen. It’s only natural that Arendelle castle, the home of Anna and Elsa, appears on this list.

You can get to work on this build using this tutorial by YouTuber "Trixyblox", and then embrace your magical heritage by enchanting all of your gear. Just remember to make some books so that you can get the best enchantments possible.

Medieval castle built in Minecraft

Medieval castle

Okay, that’s enough Disney castles. If you want something that could be thrown into any fantasy world, this Medieval castle by Youtuber “BlueNerd Minecraft” is perfect. With plenty of towers around the edge of the build, you’ll be able to fend off mobs from any direction. Even the Wither wouldn’t be able to break through these gates.

It might be best to stock the storage rooms with some Diamond and Netherite gear, though. You never know when a Creeper might come along and destroy part of your wall.

Dracula castle built in Minecraft

Dracula castle

If you want something a bit more Gothic, this Dracula castle built by YouTuber “Trixyblox” deserves a spot in your world. This terrifying castle will strike fear into everyone on your Server. Embrace your evil side and use this as a lair for all of your nefarious deeds.

Hogwarts built in Minecraft

If you want to jump into the Wizarding World, then there’s no place like Hogwarts. YouTuber “Planet Dragonod” has an entire series that will guide you through every single block. It’s pretty long, with 30 videos to get through in total, but it’s certainly worth it. This isn’t just a shell with no interior - Dragonod has recreated countless iconic locations from the Harry Potter franchise, including the Clock Tower, the Transfiguration Courtyard, and Dumbledore’s Office. This castle is the perfect place to get stuck in and brew some potions - bonus points if you wear a Hermione skin.

Floating castle built in Minecraft

Floating castle

Exploring a new world in Minecraft is certainly exciting. Discovering villages, taming horses, and going on grand adventures. Ahh, it really is lovely. It all gets quite stressful when you have to choose somewhere to settle down though. You scour biome after biome for the perfect location, but it can be difficult to find somewhere that’s just right.

YouTuber “Twin Saw” has the perfect way to skip all of that dread and just get straight into building. Make a castle that floats in the air! With craggy platforms that could only be held up by a powerful mage, this castle is perfect for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of Minecraft’s Overworld.

Island fortress built in Minecraft

Island fortress

If you like the idea of being excluded from the rest of your Minecraft world, but don’t want to be magically suspended in the air, then YouTuber “BigTonyMC” has an Island Fortress tutorial that’s just the thing for you.

The dock outside houses several boats that you and your friends can use to chart new lands whenever you want. Just make sure to pack your map, as you wouldn’t want to get lost far away from your idyllic home.

Introduction: How to Make a Minecraft Castle

In this instructable I will be showing you how to make a Minecraft castle.

Step 1: Towers

Make a 6x6 square using cobblestone. The floor will be made of stone. Build up so the tower is 16 blocks tall. Put in floors for each story so that you have 4 stories. Each room should be 3 blocks high. Use ladders to transport through the tower. Then, add another square of cobblestone on top and put a layer of seperate cobblestone blocks. Each corner should have 1 block and in the middle of them should have two blocks as shown.

Step 2: Walls

Make 3 more towers so that they form a square. Each tower should be 26 blocks apart.
Then, make walls connecting to each tower so that you have an empty space in the middle. The walls should be 15 blocks tall. Make a walkway on top of the walls below the top block. Each walkway should have stairs leading down to the top room of each tower. Doors are optional.

Step 3: Interior

Now, make the interior of your castle. The floor should be stone. 7 blocks coming out of the side walls should be a 10 block high cobblestone wall. Make 10 block tall 2x2 pillars using stone bricks with stone stairs on each side at the bottom (put glowstone on the corners). Make 8 pillars (4 on each side starting with the pillar closest to the back wall that's two blocks away from it) that are two blocks apart. Add some carpet that leads to the throne. After this, put oak wood coming out of the top two blocks on each pillar. The wood should connect all the pillars horizontally and vertically and connect with all the walls. At the top of the side walls should be windows.

Step 4: Roof

On top of the pillars build the cobblestone roof. In between the oak wood squares on the ceiling should be windows.

Step 5: Rooms

Finally, make the rooms. Put a dining room open to the main room on one side of the castle. On the other side put bedrooms,a kitchen, and any other rooms you want. Be sure to leave space for rooms above them where the walls' windows are. In a corner of the castle put an opening to a set of stairs where you can access the upstairs rooms. Lower tower room walls may be opened for better access to the castle. The tower rooms may be made into anything such as the guards' bedrooms.

Step 6: Exterior

Decorate the exterior of the castle any way you want. Put windows on the towers so the castle feels more open. The top of the roof may also be made into things as long as you don't cover up the windows. Thanks for viewing this Instructable and be sure to follow me for more!
