PORTLAND, Ore. — Police have confirmed that two members a hip-hop group with ties to the multiplatinum rap group Wu-Tang Clan were fatally shot Tuesday in Portland, Oregon.

Relatives on social media identified the rap music artists killed as 12 O’Clock and Murdock of the Brooklyn Zu, The Oregonian/OregonLive reported. Portland police in a news release identified the two men as David Turner, 45, and Odion Turner, 42, who are cousins.

The Oregon State Medical Examiner determined both died from gunshot wounds and ruled their deaths homicides, police said.

The shooting happened at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday. Four others were hurt in the shooting, including one person who remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, police said Wednesday. Police said it took time to confirm whether that victim had been injured in this incident, so police didn’t mention that victim on Tuesday.

Young Dirty Bastard, the son of the late Wu-Tang rap legend Ol’ Dirty Bastard, in a post to Instagram on Tuesday, wrote of his cousins, “Rip 12 O’Clock. Rip Murdock. They Were My Fathers Tightest blood bonds. My Two Older cousins Was just assassinated. Love Yalll. Blood Forever. Brooklyn Zu.”

Police have released few details about the shooting. A home surveillance video provided to the Oregonian/OregonLive appeared to capture nearly 20 gunshots and a car speeding away.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.

Their deaths marked the 57th and 58th homicides this year in Portland, which is more homicides than Portland recorded in all of 2020, police said.

Several suspects “exited two separate vehicles and all began to shoot.”

Chicago rapper KTS Dre was fatally shot over the weekend after reportedly being ambushed by multiple gunmen following his release from the Cook County Jail.

The shooting occurred on Saturday and 31-year-old KTS Dre (born Londre Sylvester) suffered as many as 64 bullet wounds to his head and other parts of his body, police said, per NBC Chicago.

The rising hip-hop artist had just been released from jail and was walking to a vehicle when several suspects “exited two separate vehicles and all began to shoot in Sylvester’s direction, striking him numerous times,” the police report said.

KTS Dre was one of at least 40 people who was shot in the city over the weekend; 10 of the victims died from their injuries. Police believe the local rap star was targeted, Fox 32 reports. He was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A 60-year-old woman who was walking with him at the time of the attack took a bullet to the knee. She is reportedly listed in good condition at Stroger Hospital. A 30-year-old woman who was walking by as shots rang out suffered a graze wound to her mouth, and is also listed in good condition at Mount Sinai Hospital, per the report.

KTS Dre was out on bail for charges related to an April 2020 arrest for being a felon in possession of a weapon and resisting police. He posted the required $5,000 of a $50,000 bail and was fitted with an ankle monitor before he was killed. According to CWB Chicago, KTS stands for “Kill To Survive.”

His death comes days after aspiring rapper Indian Red Boy was shot and killed while live streaming on Instagram last week in Hawthorne, California.

Indian Red Boy, born Dijon Rivera, was reportedly live-streaming with fellow gang member Kapone on Thursday, July 8, when he was shot 12 times.

The graphic video shows him getting shot in his left eye, his neck, and upper torso. He can be heard begging Kapone to “get help.”

One Twitter user described the video as “brutal,” adding, “One minute you laughing it up, next minute you gasping for breath begging for help.”

Kapone shared the tragic news on a now-deleted Instagram. He posted a video of Indian Red Boy dancing and captioned the clip: “LLINDIANREDD. I LOVE YOU GANKG”

According to Hawthorne police Lt. Ti Goetz, the gunman fled the scene after the killing.

“It appears to have been a walk-up shooting and he appears to have been targeted,” Goetz told Daily Breeze.

The rapper may have been targeted after he reportedly vandalized a Nipsey Hussle mural. Several Twitter users seemed convinced that Kapone betrayed his friend by setting him up to be taken out for good.

Authorities are still searching for the suspect who shot Indian Red Boy, and police in Chicago have reportedly made no arrests in the killing of KTS Dre.

Kentwood rapper shot to death as he opened door; suspects from rival group arrested after chase

BOGALUSA, La. — Two men were arrested in connection with the murder of a 19-year-old rapper who was hiding out in Bogalusa after receiving death threats from a rival rap group. One of the suspects later led police on a high-speed chase through Texas before being arrested near Lake Charles.

Bogalusa police say Michael Brock, a member of the "Three-13" rap group and a Kentwood native, was hiding out in Bogalusa with a girlfriend's relative after receiving death threats while in the Tangipahoa Parish area.

The threats are believed to be from a rival group in the Tangipahoa Parish area.

Neighbors and witnesses inside the house told police that there was a knock on the door in the early hours of June 7. When Brock answered it, the person on the other side of the door opened fire with an AR-15 Assault Rifle.

The shooter, identified by police as 19-year-old Tauj Chardez Taplin, fatally wounded Brock, but others in the apartment — including a 7-year-old child — escaped injury.

The shooter then jumped into a getaway car allegedly driven by 19-year-old Quardavion Tyvon White.

Both White and Taplin are associated with a rap group faction known as “The Fours," according to police. White is also suspected of having ties to the Chicago Gang, the “Gangster Disciples."

Warrants were issued for their arrest, and a manhunt began across parts of Louisiana and Texas.

On June 10, Chambers County Sheriff's deputies east of Houston pulled over a car believed to be the one involved in the shooting. During that traffic stop, police say a struggle broke out, and Taplin was able to flee in the car.

White was taken into custody.

Meanwhile, Taplin led deputies and officers on a high-speed chase towards Beaumont, but the pursuit was called off because Taplin was reportedly endangering the lives of others in his attempts to escape.

He was later located near Lake Charles and arrested by Louisiana State Police.

Both will face charges related to the struggle with the officer and pursuit in Texas, as well as charges stemming from the Bogalusa shooting.

US rapper shot dead in Florida

Rapper shot as many as 64 times as he walked out of Chicago jail

CHICAGO — A man who was apparently ambushed after being released from the Cook County Jail in Chicago suffered as many as 64 bullet wounds to his head and other parts of his body, police said.

The shooting Saturday night killed Londre Sylvester, 31, a police report said. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

NBC Chicago reported the victim was a local rapper who went by the stage name KTS Dre.

Sylvester had just been released after being fitted for electronic monitoring and was walking to a waiting vehicle when several suspects “exited two separate vehicles and all began to shoot in Sylvester’s direction, striking him numerous times,” the police report said.

The killing comes amid a rise in shootings this year in Chicago and broader concerns nationwide about increasing violence. On Monday, Chicago police Superintendent David Brown was among city and law enforcement leaders from around the United States meeting with President Joe Biden about efforts to reduce crime.

Following Saturday night’s shooting, the suspects reentered their vehicles and fled the scene, police said.

A 60-year-old woman who was with Sylvester was shot in one of her knees and was hospitalized in good condition, police said. A second woman, who is in her 30s, suffered a graze wound to her mouth, police said.

Sylvester had posted $5,000 bail on Friday, the Chicago Tribune reported. He had been ordered held on $50,000 bail on July 1 after prosecutors last month hit him with a petition for violation of bail bond for allegedly failing to meet conditions of his release in a 2020 felony gun case.
