Reset Device

There are multiple ways to reset your device if you are experiencing issues. The first step is to power cycle/restart your device.

In this tutorial, you will learn how to:

• Power cycle/restart your device
• Perform a soft reset
• Reset network settings
• Perform a factory data reset 

Power cycle/restart your device

Simultaneously press and hold the Side button and the Volume up or down button until the slider appears, then select and drag the Power icon to the right.

I got the 64 gig iPhone XS on September 21st. In the first days, the touch was a bit inconsistent, and the bottom of the screen sometimes wouldn't respond. Over time, it would get better.

But this afternoon 2 weeks later, my phone's touch is completely unresponsive. The lock screen says swipe up to unlock but I can't even swipe up. The flashlight button is there, but doesn't respond to touch. The camera button is disabled.

I did the soft reset (volume up, down, side), recovery mode in iTunes (restore), and DFU restore.

At least before I did DFU, my phone could still get notifications and calls (but not answer them). Now that I did DFU, it just says Hello, but I can't continue setup. Anyone else have issues with the new screens?

I waited for the Genius Bar first thing this morning, and he replaced my phone. Would have replaced the display, but said they didn't have enough.

I'm so glad they fixed this so quickly, I hope other users of the new iPhone XS don't encounter this.

Does it really matter whether anyone else has a bad screen? Either make a Genius Bar appointment at your nearest Apple Store or click on the Contact Support link on the top right of this page and use your warranty.
