Standard Poodle Rescue - Pensacola Pet Shelter
The Standard Poodle Rescue was started in to provide a safe haven for poodles whose owners, for a variety of reasons, must give up their dogs. We try to provide an alternative to dogs being dumped at the local animal shelter. We rehabilitate and train poodles who have developed bad habits due to their abuse or neglect. Our goal is to provide a new home with loving owners who appreciate the unique characteristics of the Standard Poodle. This is usually accomplished within a week to 10 days due to the waiting list we maintain. Most of our potential adopters have a Standard Poodle, have always wanted one, or have had one in the past. They are well familiar with the expense and time necessary to care for these wonderfully intelligent animals.

About the Standard Poodle Rescue
The Standard Poodle Rescue works closely with shelters, other rescue organizations, veterinarians, individuals, and breeders to care for and place our poodles in the appropriate home.
We match the poodle to the appropriate family on our waiting list. This match is based on the dog’s age, temperament and needs. We screen all applicants by verifying their vet and groomer references and sending a rescue person in the applicant’s hometown, out to do a physical home visit.
If you find that you must surrender your dog, please be honest about why you are giving it up. If the dog is aggressive, not housebroken, destructive, not good with other dogs/children, or has some other issue(s), please tell us. We are going to find out. This information can be very helpful when we attempt to place the dog.

Why Rescue A Shelter Dog?
Because shelter dogs are full of love!
Is it because they know you saved them and love you harder for it?
I can't say for certain, but yes.
Jokes aside, there are three things all shelter dogs need to thrive in their new home:
- Love
- Patient
- Training
Older shelter dogs, generally 1+ years old, may have experienced a lot of trauma, which often results in one of 8 common behavioral issues:
- Anxiety
- Aggression toward people & pets
- Resource guarding
- Destructive behavior
- Housetraining regression
- Poor social skills
- Leash reactivity & barrier-related aggression
- Constant whining
These issues are correctable! Your dog isn't broken, they're just damaged. You can fix them with enough love, patience, and a good training plan.
During the COVID pandemic, finding good dog trainers can be hard. Like everything else, dog training is moving only. but there are great online dog trainers that are proven to work and can help get your new pup on the right path.

GOTCHA DAY: Red/Apricot Standard Poodle PuppyThe girls went to work, despite their Monday day off Saturday. Well, I directed my feet to the hostess, asking for the tools of Donatas, who was fast asleep after drinking for dinner. Yes, he, as the girls told me, having given the salary, does practically nothing at home, mostly lies on the couch in front of the TV, declaring either as a joke.
Or seriously - Suddenly theres a war, and Im tired.

Sorry, you can't poop for a week, can you. Olya was a very educated girl in a very conservative and intelligent family, so when she heard Andrei's words, she immediately blushed. - Yes, she nodded again, but less firmly. The memory of stomach pains and subsequent gas was not pleasant.
